You see , this is the problem with ruling out crap candiates.

On Tuesday - we could all slag off McLaren
On Thursday - we could all slag off Martinez together

Unfortunately , there is no one to slag off now, so we have started on each other.

Lets just put a rumour around it's gonna be Curbishley and we will all be as happy as a hippy commune again

Pelty - why Pelty? Is that sone sort of nickname or something?

Yes. Long story and not entertaining enough to tell.

Pelty, do you think you could inject a little of your 'energy' and 'spirit' into the board. Really don't mean to be disrespecful in anyway and it's slighty tongue in cheek, however irrespective of some of the crap that's currently being reported in the media, AVFC aren't looking to clever right now and are being slated on TV and Radio shows and by the printed press. We need to come out and show a little of your 'fighting' qualities. Whilst we continue saying nothing the press will have a field day (look at how very little focus is on Chelsea and there manager search in contrast to ours) Some of the wild speculation needs to be refuted. Dave Whelan played a blinder and as a result (regardless of the truth) It looks like 'little old' Wigan have more appeal than Villa as Martinez has turned us down (media's view, not mine)

Anyway back over to you and Risso :-)

I hope the moderators rules regarding banning are going to be applied consistently here by the way?
laughing out loud

Well, yes, I only really meant it tongue in cheek and you can't beat a good old fashioned head to head can you? I think we are all on the brink a little this week. Mind you, I was banned for 24 hours for a very minor ragging off of someone which is my only offence in over 7,000 posts and a lot of time on here. It was a bit like being booked for dissent when the game is only a minute old!!!!

Can we add an 'anyone who will have us' option to the poll. Lots of people will be pleased Martinez isn't coming. I'm a bit sad that Villa have become so 'bland' that the Wigan manager doesn't find us an attractive proposition. It doesn't matter whether he had an interview, was offered a contract or just turned down the chance to speak to us, the basic message is still there that to many people we are now on a par with the Wigans of this world.

I think we may now have to turn our attentions to the lower leagues and I therefore put forward Poyet again!
Or maybe he felt we're just too big for him and couldn't feel confident of meeting the expectations of a club bigger than Wigan, whose sole ambition every season is to stay in the PL

I don't know why everyone's getting so worked up, especially over Martinez declining to be interviewed a few days ago and it only coming out this morning. Doesn't it seem to you that maybe it's not the job that's unattractive, rather it's that it's too big for a manager like him right now? Look at the facts - established PL club, loads of history, great fan base, benevolent owner, a playing squad that's well above average and a willingness to splash the cash when necessary. We're hardly teetering on the edge of oblivion are we? So I think rather than beating the club up about its apparent shortcomings, we should focus on the fact that we don't want just any manager, and those that we have been interested in have declared by their decision to say no that they don't have the necessary skills and personality to take the job on.

pelty have we or have we not interviewed anyone yet?

I do not want to get into all that, really. That is not meant to be read into, either! I just think it is best to let the process work itself out. What will be will be.

Pelty.

Though I respect you, it isn't good to leap on here and get into squabbles about the direction of the club, you will know from bitter experience how the media jump on these likes like a bulldog on a pork chop (Husky on Salami for you, in US terms).

We've been made to look like dicks over the last few months, let's not give those fuckers in the national press fuel to feed the fire.

"And similarly, if being used as some sort of unofficial mouthpiece to speak up for the gutless board of Aston Villa keeps you happy Pelty, then more power to you."

Well, when I see statements such as yours made about people that I know and respect and know are trying to do the right thing by the club to the best of their abilities (yet, as humans, they are inevitably flawed and susceptible to making mistakes), I am going to put my two cents in. Sorry if that affects your delicate sensibilities.
Here's a tip for you then,  stay away from websites.

You take the rough with the smooth chap and as long as there are sites for fans opinions you are going to get all shades

The question has been asked of you is it wise to get involved?

Time to cool it folks.

I admit it's uncomfortable to see us portrayed as a club who can't practically give the managers job away at the moment, but if the board have a specific name in mind and this is all just part of the dance I'll wear it.

Ha! It is not as dire as that, but a measure of perspective is necessary.

Perception becomes reality when left unchallenged. Our board would be wise to realise that.

Of course they won't.

What risso is saying is disgusting, certainly not how a mod should act. He's abusing his position.
Is he bollocks.
Being a moderator doesn't stop you from having an opinion on all things Villa.
