cb makes an interesting series of points, it would be amazing if we were to be home to a Wenger like revolution.

We might as well get Bruce if those are our parameters.

Wash your mouth out. Or wash your hands.

I personally believe Wigan have a great scouting system in those parts of the worlds and we should be looking to steal that.

Wigan Athletic Transfers under Martinez

Winter 2011 Transfers
 In:
Gustavo Adrian Lopez (From Deportivo La Coruna)

Summer 2010 Transfers
 In:
Mauro Boselli (undisclosed, Estudiantes La Plata)

January 2010 Transfers
 In:
Vladimir Stojković (loan, Sporting Lisbon)
Gary Robert Caldwell (free, Celtic)
Lohoré Steve Ulrich Gohouri (free)
Victor Moses (undisclosed, Crystal Palace)
Marcelo Moreno Martins (loan, Shakhtar Donetsk)

Summer Transfers 2009
 In:
Jordi Gómez García-Penche (Jordi Gomez )
Jason Kelvin Scotland (£2m, Swansea City)
Jamie McCarthy (£1.2m, Hamilton Academical

Take out James McCarthy and it doesnt make pretty reading at all!

Boselli was rumoured to be between £6-7 million as well. So I am sorry if I cant buy into this new Wenger theory...there is nothing to back it up!

Faulkner's statement: http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2373781,00.html

It appears to say 'don't flush the toilet just yet, because there are a few more turds to throw into it.'

I think I would rather have Coyle, he manage to finish higher up in the table and has taken Wilshire and Sturridge on loan and handle them really well, they play good football as well.

Burnley, under Coyle, played some great football too. But he does jump very easily and quickly when a bigger opportunity comes around. A similar accusation that can be levelled at Hughes, and may partly be the reason why Villa distanced themselves from him.

Have I missed anything or is the only thing we are completely sure of at the moment - providing we believe what Dave Whelan says, which we have no reason to dis-believe - is the fact that we've been given permission by Wigan to speak to Martinez? Leaving open practically all other options, including the possibility that we have been given permission to speak to other managers, whose chairman haven't released the information to the press.

I'm just trying to re-cap a little, there have been so many backwards and forwards over the last twelve hours. When I left the office yesterday evening Benitez was coming right in in the betting, at evens in some places, he's gone right back out again this morning and Pat Murphy's been reporting on McClaren, etc. Just trying to filter the speculation a bit.

That seems a fair summation to me.

I can't see why/where the 'Benitez says no' story has come from. Have Sky specified a source?

Schteve has now stated that in fact he has had no contact with anyone from Villa at all! Good grief!

That's on the SkySports website, by the way.

Tim Abraham is also rehashing that Benitez / transfer budget story now, along with the Independent 'Martinez will say no' line, which suggests that he, too, does not have a clue what is going on.
