Moyes - No go
Ancelotti - No go
Mclaren - No go
Benitez - No go

Martinez?
Ridjkaard Doubt he wants it?
Huges - Wants to manage a top 4 club?
Rainieri? Maybe?
Coyle?

Who can we get, if martinez turns us down then obviously were not the draw we thought we were

At a rough guess, that list of managers has yielded: -

3 x Champions League
1 x UEFA Cup
2 x FA Cup
1 x League Cup

I'm sure there are other honours I'm unaware of in Italy / Holland etc.

The thing is Maz you don't need anything because you won't be making the appointment.

Got to agree with clumpy. Randy time to get ride of Mr Faulkner and get some football people in we have no manager. A sponsor who picked. fulham rather than us for next season and a new kit that will be on sale in about march 2012. If this was happening down the road we would be talking the piss. We are Aston Villa Football Club. Proud History .As for Martinez no thanks. Rant over. Please sort it out.

I'm a fan of this club, so I'm afraid I do need something.

Disgusting isn't it. Three-quarters of his piece is taken up with how disgusting he thinks it is that none of us think McClaren is the right choice. He gets more and more like Alan Green every time I hear him

It seems exactly the same as Barry to me.

its more like Yorke. New untried manager, bail out

Except Manu will not be bidding for Downing.

We reject any bids he gets his head down for a year and performs well otherwise no England place and less interest next summer.

Not in terms of why he should be appointed, unless the board have invited you in to the interview?

Are you saying I shouldn't have an opinion on who should be the next manager of this club I've supported for over 30 years?

Mysteryman, you obviously can't say and I appreciate that, but yesterday when you said you didn't want to say anything because you didn't want to get hopes up, you were given a name, yes? I take it that name was not Martinez because he's as far from somebody to get hopes up over than I can imagine.

And are you saying Moyes and Ancelotti are definitely out of the frame now?

I don't think the Wigan chairman is the only chairman where we have  requested  permission to speak to the contracted  manager . I may be wrong on this I simply cannot believe that someone else with maybe a better pedigree has not been sought after . I also think they will interview 3 people not one I do not know if all of the other candidates are dead in the water now  nobody has came out and said officially they are or confirmed we are in for them anyway  . I said from day 1 about Hughes and McClaren and stick by it they won't happen . The biggest problem in all this is Villa are trying to do it by the book they are not going round touting for other managers in the public domain but trust me there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than anyone knows about . So no I don't think Martinez is the only show in town but it can change like it does on transfers by the day . The Benitez info was from a sky source ????? yes under consideration but went nowhere .

Is his problem more directed at Lerner rather than the club as a whole?

Pat Murphy seems to forget that while FC Twente was a good run for McClaren, he blew it at Wolfsburg, kept his job at Boro more thanks to the former "Best owner in the league" rather than his skill, even Boro fans were amazed when he became England manager.  And dont start us on about that Pat, he had the supposedly "Golden generation" and couldnt qualify out of a medium at best group.
