they are smaller than liverpool and the second best in there city, and if you only count top division titles we are only behind man u liverpool and arsenal.

everton were on a massive downward spiral when they risked on moyes and he onlyjust kept them up his first season and 15th the next

They've won it more than we have.

There's something seriously bizarre about how this evening has panned out. I look for sense and reason to prevail in the morning.
Goodnight.

They have 9 top flight titles, we have won 7.

As Stu pointed out, I was wrong on FA Cups though, they've only 5 of them.

Really, Maz?! At this rate I should imagine we'll all be waking up to news that Howard Wilkinson, Christian Gross and Sammy Lee have turned us down...

Another thing. When signing Bent, he would surely have discussed the ambition of the club etc.. I just don't buy there being no money for the new manager. There is more to the Rafa thing I am sure of it.

Being 2nd best to the most successful side in the leagues history (well up to this season anyway) is hardly a crime. Everton are on a par with us size wise, small heath are only in our league on the odd occasion they get to play us twice a year.

If you can't see the difference between small heath and Everton, then it's probably you who needs a nap "lol"

I'd be very insulted if I was an Everton fan being compared to small heath.

Going by your logic Man City are the 'Birmingham City' of Manchester?

right im going to say this IMHO as you all like to type when everton appointed MOYES in 2002 they were sinking fast and on the mangergerial merry-go-round< situation keeps claiming moyes to everton as the main reason that we should take bob martin, at the time everton were battling for survival with little money and an aging squad it was little risk for them to take moyes onas if they went down he could probably get them back up!

Weon the other hand have been challanging for honours be it european qualification or domestic cups the only reason we didnt last year was due to a vindictive man on a petty vendetta. IMHO if we were to finish 15th like moyes did at everton in his first season we would loose our best player/players therefore dragging us down to perrenial mediocrity.

the whole sodding point of the post was to highlight the differance in situation between 2002 everton and 2011 aston villa everton were starting a major rebuild process! we arnt as we have the nucleas of a good team here already and to risk loosing that by appointing martinez would be borderline phsycotic

Or Spurs and Chelsea are the small heath of London.

again the point was about being second best in there area tottenham and arsenalare in the same area spurs are second best.chelsea however are far better than the team in there area which is fulham not hard to grasp is is. i have made several point why he would be a disaster but you two plebs are clinging to a throw away statement about being second best r4ather than telling me why roberto is the best man for the job
