I'm still praying its Ancelotti or van Gaal. Clearly (in my opinion) the best candidates for the job. If Ancelotti really isnt interested then go for van Gaal.
He's the only manager I'd be 100% convinced of and be confident Randy could throw resources at him and use wisely, plus he's got great experience of working with youth and improving a club from top to bottom.
I hope to Christ we've approached him or plan to.

Interesting. Better than Wally, not as good as Rafa. A bit of a Meh appointment but would give us stability I guess.

I’m beginning to get the impression that our strict criteria for a manager is backing us into a corner and ruling out far more qualified candidates.
This is the feeling I get too. Unless there's an awful lot of smokescreen being put out.

I reckon it'll be Rafa, and I reckon it'll be known by the end of the week.

Just a hunch.

I'd class that as the most likely option right now!

Also the way his Agent is quiet on links mirrors very much the way Villa does business. A month ago you couldn't keep Rafa or his agent quiet....

I reckon Rafa is certainly one of the two being interviewed.

Has it been confirmed we're interviewing 2?  I missed that is so!

Very much key to the appointment is how the owner feels he can get on with the new manager,  the relationship between both of them.

I do not believe that Randy Lerner would feel he could develop a good ,  close working relationship with Benitez.

Admittedly that may be me looking for a reason for Lerner not to employ Benitez as he is not my choice but I honestly feel that he could not really develop a good relationship with the man

If it is only 2 being interviewed then a decision shouldn't take long.

Hoping and a fair amount of praying, that Randy Lerner can secure David Moyes ! Theres a fair amount of speculation on Twitter about Moyes & local journo's are saying we shouldn't rule him out !
I just think anyone other than Moyes won't fully fit the criteria set out by Lerner ...

I think Benitez would get on fine with randy- randy is much more amiable that hicks or gillette

If it is a left field appointment then how about Ranieri,  not being mentioned too much but could be a possible

I think it's more a case of would Randy get on with/like Rafa.  Does the Barry situation still piss him off?

As I said, I'd put Rafa favourite now, but that's the main potential block in my mind - a personality clash!

And what about Flores? All the talk of him has gone quiet in the last few weeks.
