O'Neill?
Could happen.
Depends how many candles Chris lights.

But if you mean O'Leary, then he needs to escape from Chris's loft first.

As soon as Houllier became ill do you not think that the board contemplated the idea that we might be in need of a new manager?  Or, are people of the opinion that they just hoped he'd make a full recovery as they didn't no where to start looking for a replacement?

This interviewing that is supposedly taking place is just a smoke screen.  I think they have their man already and as Fletch has intimated it will be a surprise to us all.  That's where my money has gone anyway.

Moyes of the realsitic options. I'd give anyone the benefit of the doubt if they were appointed but just think it's the right time to get him.

Agree.

If not Moyes then I would go with Martinez

He ruled himself out pretty conclusively last week.

Obviously he or Ancelotti could still be our new manager, but we've adapted the original poll and just left in those who haven't been ruled out, and focused on the "prime suspects" amongst the bookies.

All things considered - and overlooking Ancelotti, Van Gaal, McClaren and Hughes, who don't appear to be in the running (although reportedly still an outsider) - my preference would be Moyes. I just think he's the right fit for us at this point in time; he can work comfortably with what we already have, he can work effectively within a transfer budget (which I still believe this summer will be far higher than he's been used to the last couple of years at Everton), and, I do think that if he leaves Everton he'll be looking to commit to building something long-term with us. There's a loyalty and commitment with Moyes that you don't get with a lot of other managers.

Following him, I'd go for, in this order: Rijkaard, Benitez, Coyle.

I've said all along Moyes is the man. Whilst appreciating he is still in work and that Mr Lerner has high standards I would say this:
If everyone is diving in the box and we are staying on our feet then more fool us.

I think they probably started the thought process then, but nothing formal would or should have been done.  So our first actual contact with an agent/manager would only have come after Houllier officially left, which was a week ago today.

That could well be the case were they in for somebody already in a managerial position.  It's a little bit different if their man isn't....an informal chat of sorts to sound out a candidate who might be interested.

I don't know what Moyes is waiting for. The Man U job?

Every season is like groundhog day at Everton. He does well to keep them around the top 6 but that's as good as it gets without any investment.

He can do the same job at Villa but with the resources to go the next step as well. Of all the options open to Moyes, Villa is clearly the most viable.
