Rafa did ok at Liverpool under the most shocking of owners , working under randy he would find it totally different and could provide a stable base to build a very team in the coming years- I think he would throw himself into the job and be a very decent appointment.

This thing about having PL experience in my opinion is a red herring. I don't think that criteria is as important as it was when GH was appointed. The board, being dropped in the shit by MON, at that time needed someone that would be able to adjust quickly to the PL. I don't think that is as important now as it was then, but it's a plus, especially if the candidate was successful.

My guess is they will appoint the best manager available, regardless of PL experience. I think Maz is on the right lines in that the pot of names would have been much larger than last year, and we might be in for a surprise candidate rather than any of the names that have been linked to us so far. I happen to think that Benitez is the leading candidate because he ticks all of the boxes, but it could quite easily be someone we aren't expecting.

So, of the widely talked about candidates, and if we're to believe what we're told, Moyes has said he's not interested, Ancelotti is taking a year out, probably due to his Chelsea settlement, we've said we're not after Hughes, Jol's gone to Fulham and a reliable ITK has said it ins't gonna be Dutch Schteve  To my mind that just leaves Rafa or a leftfield candidate we're not talking about.

Where?

"But I'm not interested anyway, so that answers it."

Just been on oddschecker and hughes back as slight favourite from mclaren with rafa drifting out- the interesting one is coyle who seems to have come in to 7/2 and his odds have really dropped in the last few hours.

With all this anti-McClaren feeling my baby son refuses to get into his buggy and my dad says he won't watch F1 again!

Rijkard or Van Gaal would be good.
