Been a good, constructive, serious but also humorous debate so far.

Maz is right Chris. Nonsense. No one here stops supporting. Whatever. It does not work that way.

Have another go.

I don't want MON back, absolutely not and I don't for a second think it will happen, but it's part of a wider trend where people have decided that if X gets the job they'll stop going and I don't remember it happening when we've been looking for a manager.

When it is believed a Champions League winner wants the job, it is hard to see why we'd give it to someone whose biggest achievement has been 14th place with Bolton Wanderers.

The best managers are pretty bright, the majority of managers are not so bright. You need intelligence to succeeed in management, Owen Coyle is pretty thick you can tell that by listening to him. So first find someone who is intelligent.

Redknapp and Ferguson have always seemed pretty thick to me.

I suppose they might be putting it on but there is no way to tell if Coyle is not.

Would Coyle be better than Hughes?

Hard to say. They both have a lot to prove and I'm not totally convinced with either.

Would love Coyle.

Both Hughes and Coyle have a pretty good record so far of bailing on their former clubs. And I really don't what the appeal is with Coyle. He finished the season in dreadful form. What makes him Aston Villa standard when there are people out there who have actually won stuff. Yes, and that even includes McClaren.

Me too. I am amazed Benitez has not got the job by now.

I'd be happy with Ancelotti  but if the Champions League winner is Rijkaard then no thanks.

So you want  someone who sounds like Stephen Hawking.

Maybe someone with an even better track record has got their CV in and the club hierarchy are busy mulling over the CVs?

Maybe its because there are no excuses this time, they have plenty of time and plenty of potential candidates.

we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes. I have no idea how long these things take, but I do know it's not like Football Manager in signing players, or becoming manager of a team. Down on planet Earth, the negotiations might be progressing smoothly, but that's an eternity in the Internet Galaxy where it seems like light years have passed since GH left.

Short of Van Gaal, as much as he has been a bit eratic in the last 2 years, Rafa has a CV that is fairly untouchable.

It's still only three working days since Ged left. They'd take longer to appoint an office junior.

Right, I'm laying my cards down for my Villa management dream team...

Ready...

Manager: MoN

Coach: Schteve McClogen

DoF: Avram Grant

Think of the potential, they could all swap roles n stuff...

Thinking outside your box: I like it.

I would like to see Glen Hoddle and Paul McKenna team up.

That would rule.
