Because I am sad, I have been on this website since I got home from work at 4.30pm. (apart from the half hour I watched Corrie !).

I have seen the same names mentioned.

However, there is one that no one - and I think that is no one - has mentioned as a possibility.

Mr Martin O'Neill.

Its a possibility. I mean, up until last week, all the noises coming out the club was that GH was coming back. Then we suddenly put this contract wrangle to bed with MON, and suddenly, GH goes.

Who knows, but there is as much chance as most of those mentioned here.

So (and I wont give my thoughts)

What would peoples opinion be (and if he isn't on the poll - he should be
Are you for real?

Can't stand Ailsa, and I am with Greg. He is a more brutal version of Allardyce. Sheep dressed in home and away clothing. Not a redeeming feature and I will be gutted to have him at Villa Park.

He makes Moyes look like Wenger football wise.

He stunk the place out at Blackburn.
That's some pretty impressive revisionism even by your standards.

I doubt it. It may well be worth dragging up some old posts to see what we thought of Hughes's brand of football back then. I don't remember too many people on here praising their attacking flair and neat passing game thats for sure.

Allow me.

You seemed to think that his ability in the transfer market was "reliable", plus some Home and Away based tomfoolery from me and Paulie.

Pep Guardiola. As long as he brings most of the side with him as well. Otherwise he can do one if he only brings Xavi and Messi.

I get the feeling that Hughes was the board's first choice last summer had O'Neill's actions not scuppered things, and I don't think a decent enough season with Fulham will have dulled their ardour.

For the pro-Hughes brigade its worth remembering that 6 short months ago he signed Steve Sidwell.

There was a story that a couple of weeks before he joined Fulham, O'Neill was heard to shout something in training about how Mark Hughes wasn't taking his fucking job.

It could happen

Redknapp went back to pompey - and that was after going to Southampton - thats the equivelent of someone leaving us for the Blues then asking to come back again.

We are saying about managers who are on the market.

Well O'Neill is - O'Neill is free - and O'Neill is local.

Stranger things have happened. And  bloody love or loathe him - its a bloody better option than Allan fecking Curbishley !!! (who was the one who voted for him ?)

Anyone's reliable in the transfer market compared to MON. And where am i praising his football at blackburn eh?  where is anyone praising his football at blackburn? Surely you can find a post from your goodself enthusing about his style?

Looks like the Hughes idea is gaining a bit of momentum.  Obviously he's not my first choice, and I think it would be an(other) opportunity missed, but I suppose there could be worse appointments - although I'm struggling to think of them at the moment.
