If he's bringing Peter Grant with him (he's be on the nose a bit now, mind) we might be able to get some gigs for Heskey and Beye. Maybe even a six album contract for Petrov.

Here's my 'reading between the lines' idea of what happened:-

When Houllier left we wanted Moyes and to also had a chat to Ancelotti, but got knocked back on both counts.

So we started looking around, which lead to the Rafa interview, approach for Martinez and McLaren.

Something happened that made us think Moyes might be back on.  This lead the Mysteryman's 'meltdown' comment and those rumours he had resigned from Everton.  I'm guessing this was a strong belief we were getting him, so told Shteve not to bother.

When this then did not happen, we were left up shit creek with the paddle stuck up our collective arses, so jumped at the idea of McLeish as the timing was right and he was seen as Moyes-lite.

I think you miay be correct. Although it is possible the McClaren interview was cancelled partly due to the backlash, and when Villa thought there were still other better options in the pipeline. But when they dried up it was too late to then interview him, and they went down the AM route.

if true why would they cancel interest in mclaren but not martinez?

The Marinez enquiry came about 9 days before Whelan leaked it to the press, so the timing doesn't fit!

I’m still hoping that Jeremy Beadle is about to appear from behind a hedge and this is all a massive wind up.

Sadly, he's dead.

No chance of his withered, deformed hand ripping off a fake moustache and shouting 'you've been framed.'

Randy's flown back, so it's as good as a done deal.

Leaving Faulkner to carry the can ...............don't suppose they will do photo call inside the stadium
with Big Eck wearing a Villa scarf and surrounded by disgruntled, correction adoring fans ? They might
have difficulty in finding half a dozen even mildly happy supporters, unless of course they ship in a few
knuckle draggers and hastily purchase them something cheap and tacky from Villa Village

Hahaha - that's just made me smile for the first time since Sunday!  It was only for a second though...normal service resumed!

Grant and Andy Watson appear to have no redeeming coachng qualities at all. Getting Dave Watson is a good thing though, he seems to be a quality keeper coach. I hope Sid and GMac stay in the fold, both would help our more technically gifted players continue to progress.

It's a bit like chatting Megan Fox up at 8pm in a pub, then at 2.30am outside a nightclub, you're on your way home with Olive from On the buses.

Brilliant!  I'm going to borrow this
It actually happened to me.

Except for the Megan Fox bit.
What you actually got it on with Olive from On The Buses?

Faulkner will probably stay hidden from his bride and then release a statement to her that they are married anyway.
