Shitting hell McLaren has confirmed the camncelled interview thing in he presser WTF !!!
Again in English please?
Sorry,Mclaren has confirmed we approached him and the interview was cancelled just before. What the hell is going on.

I might be wrong, but I assume, as previously reported, McClaren had an interview arranged and it was cancelled.
I thought his agent said ther wasn't an approach but I may be wrong.

Assuming it's due to unpopularity with fans.Makes the approach to McLeish more bemusing

Hindsight is great isn't it?  How many on here who were slashing their wrists at the possibility of Mclaren being appointed would now personally go and pick him up from Nottingham if given half a chance?

Sometimes I think we get what we deserve.

Quite annoying. McClaren seems to have learnt a lot from his time in Europe. Randy shoulda atleast spoke to him.

Here's my 'reading between the lines' idea of what happened:-

When Houllier left we wanted Moyes and to also had a chat to Ancelotti, but got knocked back on both counts.

So we started looking around, which lead to the Rafa interview, approach for Martinez and McLaren.

Something happened that made us think Moyes might be back on.  This lead the Mysteryman's 'meltdown' comment and those rumours he had resigned from Everton.  I'm guessing this was a strong belief we were getting him, so told Shteve not to bother.

When this then did not happen, we were left up shit creek with the paddle stuck up our collective arses, so jumped at the idea of McLeish as the timing was right and he was seen as Moyes-lite.

That's about the size of it I reckon. Still - onwards and sidewards.

Sorry, you might be right, but I thought it had been previously confirmed that there had been an approach. I have completely lost trak of the comings and goings over the last week or so. But in any event, I think I would brefer AM to McClaren.

The reasons that I didn't want the Grinning Ninny are the same now, despite the spectre of McShit. Yes, if it was a straight choice between the two I'd plump for smiler but it's not now and never was.

To arrange the meeting than not see it through is rather disrespectful and maybe the next P45 handed out at Villa Park should go to someone other than the next manager.

And as for other teams supporters criticising Villa fans, how many of them would jumping through hoops at the prospect of McLaren as boss?

He's made the ideal choice at Forest to restore his tarnished reputation, it appears we are about to make a choice that is not so well thought out.

McLeish will build nothing long-term. Everything about him is short-term - short-term defensive tactics, short-term buying of journeymen pros who won't contradict him, not really giving youth players a chance (how many games did Jordan Mutch play last season?). He's the kind of manager who is the precise opposite of everything we should be looking at. No fresh new ideas, just stale old ones, with yawn-inducement thrown into the bargain.

The board are just being moronic about this. Not only do they give so much of a shit about Premier League experience (a real red-herring) that they don't even care if that experience amounts to being relegated, they then ride roughshod over the feelings of the fans like this. There are many bog-standard, 'steady' (another word for having no career momentum), boof-bally managers who won't rock the boat. Why appoint this one? Someone needs to tug at Randy's face to see if it isn't a mask.

Spot on Monty - one of the worst possible appointments by someone who should have known better.

I reckon AM will be announced tomorrow while we're all getting excited about the fixtures and then before you know it we'll all be like " he's alright, lets get on with it" and then notice we Have Man U away first game of the season.

I wonder what the chances are of Bent fucking off, to be replaced by Cameron Jerome?
