Its a bit harsh if we've caused him to leave his club and then left him high and dry.

He left thinking Villa would snap him up window of opportunity and all that . I personally rate him but won't happen

Any news on this 2pm Everton press conference or was that a load of bull as well ?

It has happened yet and SSN are not reporting anything about a press conference.

or maybe he upped and left his club because GH wasn't returning and felt he was a good candidate for the job this time around. It's hard to know what are the exact sequence of events. Plus his reptile of an agent suggested ambitions and operating at the top level - maybe even CL sides. Hughes might even have had his eyes on Chelsea, or if Harry left Spurs, that job.

So MM says it might be DM or MH to replace GH and some people are putting 2+2 together and making 5 as regards AM.

And it's all over TS, BBC and WM. People complain but it's not as easy as ABC or 123 for RL or PF.

Quite.

There might be a few people on the QT maybe ITK, possibly working for the BBC.
But the FM position should between AVFC, the CM, CE and not bandied around TMOTT.
Keep NOTW, TS, DM and all that lot out of it.

FFS.
WTFIATA? YLM.

We cwould get around that by not having the break clause in his contract that he neogtiated with Fulham, making it much more difficult for him to leave.

MM are you still sure Mark Hughes isn't in the frame?

Yes

This does seem strange.  Not my first choice, but can we afford to completely rule out a very decent candidate like this?  I presume there is a good reason, I hope it's not just because he activated a clause in a contract which both parties agreed and signed up to?

If we can't get the likes of Ancelotti, Benitez etc, then I'd be much happier with Hughes than many of the other supposed candidates.

It's a loyalty issue,  apparently he agreed to an extention to his contract, Aston Villa come along and he ups and leaves....If he can do that to them, he could do that to us also.

I see.  Kind of.  He gets wind we want him, saves us money and hassle by activating an (agreed) clause in his contract - showing just how keen he is to join us and doing us a bit of a favour, but we'd rather that he let the break clause go by meaning we have to go cap in hand to Fulham to seek permission to talk to him and then pay them a big wedge for him to join us?  I take the point he may have verbally agreed a contract extension, but nevertheless, if he did quit for us he was trying to do us a favour.  Strange to rule him out just for that when you would have thought he should get a pat on the back for his keenness and saving us some money.

Seems to me that we are being holier than thou for the sake of it really?

Is Bora Milutinovic available? Villa are one of the few clubs that he HASN'T managed.

I never said it was Moyes ( I would like him or Hughes ) said it from day 1
I still believe the next manager will be foreign; I just cannot see the club abandoning the project GH had started at the club.

I agree with this. In the current cut-throat world of modern day football, by trying to always be Mr Nice Guy we may just be cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Surely managers are just as ambitious as players. The key is to get a manager who can get us moving up the foodchain.

I'd rather chase Hughes who showed his keenness by quitting his job than be chasing a lesser manager like Martinez who isn't interested- sort it out randy, offer fayed a small fee and get Hughes now.

If we haven't gotan ace up our sleeves then I agree entirely.  If we haven't already burnt our bridges with him.

The sun website is saying Owen coyle is the new target now moyes is staying at everton but how will coyle react to being maybe 6 th choice after Carlo, Martinez, mclaren, Benitez, and moyes were reportedly all before coyle on the list.

Whoever eventually gets it won't be wanted by the majority of the fans. They're onto a loser straightaway.

With the possible exception of Ancelotti and Moyes being out in front, I don't think there was a 'pecking order' like that.  We just decided who we wanted to speak to and went about seeking permission for those meetings.  The rest is just the order in which the press have guessed at those names.
