"It's my belief that history is a wheel. "Inconsistency is my very essence" -says the wheel- "Rise up on my spokes if you like, but don't complain when you are cast back down into the depths. Good times pass away, but then so do the bad. Mutability is our tragedy, but it is also our hope. The worst of times, like the best, are always passing away"."

I think that you'll find it's "Inconstancy" rather than "Inconsistency".

you just reminded me of hearing this at Highbury some years ago when we'd just lost and were singing this on the way out of the visitors end.
We first sang this during the 6-2 home defeat to Arsenal in '83, i think it was 5-1 or 5-2 at the time, trust the mancs to highjack it yrs later, and not use it in the same way we did!
I can only imagine that most posters here are too young to remember the 85-87 yrs! 85/86 wasnt good but 86/87, well the less said the better! This season has been brilliant compared to then, and as mentioned before, had the internet been around then, these sites would have gone into meltdown then.

Don't blame me, blame Frank Cottrell Boyce. Or Boethius.

Agree and just imagine what 1971/2/3 would have been like!  It was bad enough being a villa fan at the time!
Maybe someone's already found this but I just thought it was apposite for the thread:
