Sounds like we all need a rendition of "Always look on the bright side of life" at the Liverpool game.

Some things in life are bad.
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble. Give a whistle.
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...
music
Always look on the bright side of life.

Whistling

Always look on the light side of life.

Whistling

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.

whistling

Come on!
Always look on the right side of life,

whistling

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of life,

whistling

Just ignore all the grief you get from the wife.

Whistling

Life's a piece of cake,
Which you don’t have to fake.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.

Whistling

you just reminded me of hearing this at Highbury some years ago when we'd just lost and were singing this on the way out of the visitors end.

You've just reminded me of crucifixions and Manchester United.

You would all have been a bloody sight more pissed off if Gabby had not got hat last gasp winner at Wet Spam.

It seems like only yesterday that Citeh were in the play offs against Gillingham.   That is the beauty of football, you never know what lies round the corner.

What season - to me?

Mark Walters was playing.  Sorry I can't be more specific!  Only remember that because (warning - 'bad old days' anecdote coming up) of the supporter behind us who cheered MW to the echo when he came on as sub, after spending the entire match beforehand dishing out some major racist abuse to Arsenal's black players.  (Other fans around him were asking him to stop but he took no notice.)

I'd taken some Hammers/spurs/QPR mates along who were all under instructions to cheer for Villa, which they did, of course.  The conversation after the match and for some time after was about the guy's response when one of my friends turned to him and pointed out a certain lack of consistency in his approach, shall we say.

'Ah yes, but he's ours.'

They were really impressed with the song, though, and the conga lines which accompanied it.

I went to Highbury a few times after that, but that particular visit stands out, for some reason.

Not to you, no. More a generalised sweeping statement in response to the thread title as I'd like to forget that this one ever happened, starting from when MO'N dropped us in it.

1988-89, 1994-95, 2005-06 and this have been the worst league seasons since i've followed the Villa. 1988-89 was a novelty to me as my first season and had the goals of McInally and Platt to recommend it. 1994-95 we still played a lot of attractive football under BFR at first and had probably the most amazing set of scorelines (if not always in our favour) including the Milan win, the 7-1 and Ian Taylor's home debut vs Chelsea. 2005-06 was better than this season, we did better in the cups (except until the Doncaster fiasco) and the double win over Blues - 4 points off WBA as well. And our team wasnt as good then so it wasnt totally unexpected. For me, this season is the worst one ever with our team capable of so much more and failing to deliver on so many occasions. But this is the Villa and no one does decent season/bad season/decent season like we do - just look at the difference between 1994-95 and 1995-96. It can only get better.

I think the last season under D O'L was the worse, especially as we had Doug pulling the strings, there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel.

Least now we have Randy,a good few young players, fingers crossed this season will be a one off.

For me this has reminded me of the Dr Jo season 90-91. After a reasonably ok start as soon as we lost to inter the whole thong came apart and we steadily went downhill. Safety was assured a bit before may but only just. Funnily enough cascarino the useless great lump had the Darren bent role! That was .y first season supporting the villa and whilst 94-95 was appalling I'd say this has been the worst season of my villa supporting life.

Ten great games from 1994-95 - i couldnt name ten decent games from this season.

1 7-1 vs Wimbledon.
2 4-3 vs Spurs
3 1-0 vs Inter Milan
4 3-0 vs Chelsea, Taylor debut goal.
5 1-0 vs Spurs, great Saunders goal, Bosnich ko's Klinsmann.
6 2-1 vs Sheff Weds, great performance, great Deano headed goal
7 5-0 vs Wigan - the Lamptey game and celebration
8 2-1 at Forest after a shocking Collymore penalty decision
9 2-0 vs Liverpool - easy win and a streaker shaking hands with Shaun Teale man of steel
10 2- at Barnsley - great away day out

We also had several 4-3's and a 4-4 with Leicester. In terms of drama it was easily the most action packed and heart-stopping of all our seasons in the time i've followed Villa if not always for the right season.

I'll pretty much agree with all that. On the positive sides, the law of averages states we must surely be better next year! Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.
It could be just as bad if Gary McAllister is still here and we cant shift the deadwood and troublemakers, quotes of we will work on defending in pre season, we only need 2 or 3 players and sticking with Freidlel and Marshall as our 1 and 2 choice goal keepers.
