DeKuip - I think you're being a bit over the top in your annoyance about this. Yes we'd all like season ticket prices to be lower but the Villa can't do anything about that. If you want to pay less, go and watch Sutton Coldfield Town (£80 for a season ticket I think!). If you want to watch a Premier League team then you have to pay the going rate for Premier League football. The Villa had the 4th lowest season ticket prices in the Premier League this year (http://www.footballfancast.com/2010/06/football-blogs/premier-league-season-ticket-prices-a-tad-unfair) so it's hardly unreasonable for them to increase them. Bear in mind also that inflation is running at 4-5% and there was a 2.5% increase in VAT. A 6.5%-7.5% increase is basically keeping income in line with the clubs base costs therefore; ie before increases in player salaries, improvements to the stadium, etc, etc.
And yes, the stuff in the welcome pack is almost certainly tat but at least the club have done something rather than just go, "Here's your increase - deal with it".
Has anyone seen any matchday prices for next season? I'm trying to work out how many games on silly days or at silly times you can afford to miss before the season ticket is worthless!!!
You should me at Asda when Baked Beans go up a penny!
This time last year one of the benefits the club plugged was priority for cup final tickets should we get there - clearly sensitive at what backlash that might cause after this season's surrenders, some bright spark has decided a car sticker and a badge is now THE "benefit" to having an increased price season ticket. Or emails with exclusive news from the training ground. Or palming off AVTV as a free gift benefit - as if it's something worth paying for in the first place.
It's a bit like your boss telling you he's cutting your wages but as a bonus you can take home the contents of your wastepaper bin.
When i worked in Telephone Marketing you'd be surprised about how many people don't have access to the internet
Yes, but that was 1978.
I was Minus 6 then
Most people in tele marketing are around that age.
well all the people i worked with were my age (which is 26 btw) and some younger, I lasted just over a month as it ain't something I wanted to do and it didn't suit me as I didn't try to push people when they said No.
Just had my pack, £530 so increase of £35. Holte upper.
Starting to play with myself again on a Saturday now so would more than likely miss half of the games anyway.
You can have a wank any time.
Plus, think of the money you'll be forking out for tissues.
(Unless you're using an old sock that is now stiff as a board from mis-use.)
Got 15 years worth of programmes to use for that, love the centrefolds. They always hit the spot.
AVTV isn't bad, once you get used to Woodwards sychophantism (and footage of his driving lessons with Pat Heard). Good to be able to see highlights of the reserves and interviews with players who you don't normally hear from in the press.
Fairly pleased with that. Not bothered about the fringe benefits but the range of instalment options is better. A slight rise but works out, even over 10 months with interest, at about £32 a game for me.
In short, I am unhappy that I will be paying 30 quid extra and my kids will be paying 15 quid extra each.
However, my actual post is not about that.
Over the past few years the general especially has backed up price rises by saying two things.
1. Cup final ticket priority - ahem !!!
2. We are living in the real world - if you want us to buy the best players, we have to offer them the wages, you can't have Gold when you charge for tin foil - kind of thing.
Well, I am pretty sure the club are trying to slash the wage bill aren't they by something like 30% - then surely by the same note they could afford a 30% reduction in ticket costs.
Yeah as if that is likely !!!.
Sorry, the club don't give a shitge about us. I honestly don't know if I will renew - bearing in mind the date is mid-July, it gives a fair idea of where we will be as a club.
Exciting signings by 7th July - I might succomb , a load of sales and no incomings, with GMac still in charge
Then nope
Sorry, the club don't give a shitge about us.
Have to take issue with that Paul.
Up till this season, the board have hardly put a foot wrong, the club is more customer friendly than it has been throughout it's history.
Nobody likes increases, but it's a modest one and i'm sure next season will not be as dismal as this one.
Let's see what the new manager can produce.
No - they arte just better at the PR machine !
Do you know my two kids ST's have gone up from £50 in the last year of DOL - to this new one £220 - in 5 yrs !!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't remember how much mine was then but it was definately below £250 in the lower Holte.
The club have quietly put prices up by a massive amount and done it in such a way (hiking one area up by a large amount one year, another one the next year and so on) that no-one has noticed.
Tell me one thing the owner has done for me, a normal fan sitting on the Holte End. Oh sorry, forgot, a scalf, a flag and a pin badge !.
Do you know the VERY LEAST I expected out of this - ST holders have free entry into the Holte Suite or Pu and a free cup game after this years debacle but no ! , so no, sorry , I ain't impressed with a car sticker and a welcome DVD costing £30 !!!

You do have choice as to whether to go or not. If it's that bad why do you go? Not meaning to be a prick, but your entire post is as if the club have completely screwed you. I appreciate the cost of football isn't for everyone, therefore you have a choice. There are plenty of other ways you can support your team.
In the real world, costs have gone up massively. Do you really expect any business, football or otherwise to continue to absorb costs if the costs being levied on them go up? It's not reasonable. I think our club tries to understand the demanding times as much, if not more than most, but in the end, in order to remain competitive in one of the worlds most competitive football leagues, it has generate revenue. That's real life. It won't be for everyone. It never has been.
Read the 13 pages of the thread and you will see why I and many many others go the football.
And it AINT the football !!!

Such a lack of respect to Randy,
He has unreservedly backed the club for 4 years,
We were very close to CL football and to winning a cup, that prick MON was the only reason we never acheived those thngs, not Randy

Oh and the other thing - I know you are in Canada so you may not know, but the UK is ON ITS KNEES !!!!.
I am on a 2 yr pay freeze, that have increased my pension by 2 percent and utility bills have gone up nearly 100% in two years !! - and I am one of the lucky ones, I am one that has kept his job !!!
So excuse me for not being excited when I, and 40500 others are charged extra money so we can offer Ashley at least 80000 a week instead of 60000 !!!
how about making the players cough up. I worked it out the other month - if every player took a 1000 pound pay cut - now that is basically saying "accept 59000 a week instead of 60 !" - every season ticket could be offered FREE !!!!!
THAT IS HOW APPALLING THIS ALL IS - it is not the figure , it is how football , not Villa, FOOTBALL, is taking the piss out of us - and they know they can coz you will always have people like Shrek saying "I am Villa til I die, whatever the cost, Ill pay it"
Well personally, I bloody hope a lot (maybe including me) dont !

Whilst my stance is a little different from Paul's (see prev page), yours is somewhat extreme, isn't it?
You seem to be basically saying "costs go up, the price goes up, if you can't afford it, tough shit, watch MOTD or something". If the club took that approach, we'd be in a very sticky situation indeed.
