My son just bought me the home top for my birthday, got it from JJB so no sponsor on the shirt!

Now my only question is....

Shall I take up the clubs kind offer and have the sponson put on for free at the club shop?

Hmm.........

No. Football kits look far better without any sponsors logo spoiling them.

Saw both shirts with and without logos in JJB today...may be they look better when actually being worn, but on the peg they look better with the sponsor. Not really liking the shirt anyway, so going to get me one of the classic Fred Perrys...hmmm claret or white?

I like those claret Fred Perry tops as well, it's a shame they're stupidly priced. They're doing a nice Claret Polo shirt in the club shop at the moment which has got Fred Perry type sleeves, which is very smart.

Training top looked like cheap market tat  - it was about 20 shades different to the shorts and socks - finally when the team came out it was apparant that the playing tops don`t even match the shorts and socks.

Overall not impressed with the look and quality of the stuff Nike putting out.

Time for a change of supplier?

The Nike deal is up after this season I'm sure.

It is up after this season. Looking at the level of sponsor we now have think along the lines of the Macrons of the world and not Adidas's...

What relationship is there between our shirt sponsor and the kit manufacturer?

FWIW, Genting are a truly enormous company, way bigger than most PL sponsors, and our deal is one of the biggest in the top flight.

Just because most people haven't heard of them, don't assume this isn't a prestigious, big deal.

It's just an indication of how we have dropped back in the scheme of things. No European football, no England internationals, no competing in the top half leads to a less attractive proposition to potential sponsors/kit suppliers.

I know the club were scratching around desperately trying to find a sponsor, hence why the deal was so late, it also goes against what the club said about the 32 Red being the sponsor.

FWIW I actually like this season's kit with the black socks being a masterstroke,  although I doubt the kit issue will be the main point of discussion in the coming months...

Fair enough, but the current sponsor goes against what you're saying.

I don't care who makes it as long as it looks good.
Nike seem to have a really "don't give a shit about The Little Old Villa" attitude as we're only small fry to them, we get Lens old kits rehashed.

dont agree with this, been to quite a few european cities in last couple of years and i always see villa shirts in the stores. our kit this season is pretty nice i think! I also think great value for kids as mine do not take theirs off for virtually a whole season. As for grown men wearing replica shirts, well that is a different matter entirely!

I've been in a few Nike shops around Europe and there were no Villa shirts to be seen. I'm 36 and I wear Villa shirts whether on my travels or just arseing around at home, if that make me a sad git, then so be it. Its who I am. No apologies .
