I have to be honest, anytime I've seen Salifou he hasn't looked absolutely atrocious.

To hear the way some go on about him, you'd think we'd plucked a bloke of the street and given him a contract.

He looked OK versus Prague away in the UEFA, decent against Valencia when he came on as a sub in the summer and decent tonight.

Bradley has loads of American caps under his belt and to be honest he dont look any better than any other player on the park !! Think its a trip back to Daddy this summer .....

I disagree with your analysis.

That's what I was saying earlier. Salifou wasn't ever going to be that superstar we picked up for a song and I don't think he's consistently good enough to be a first-team regular but I have no problem with him making the bench. Seems absurd to have bought Pires in when we had an experienced option already knocking around the reserves.

Salifou looked very Makounesque tonight albeit with the odd pass over 5 yards long
& no dodgy 2 foot tackles or shennanigans in our box

Salifou was good tonight no doubt, but as I mentioned earlier in the thread, he was good in the Peace Cup and nothing came of it.

I just think that he hasn't really had a fair crack of the whip. When you look at how indulged Sidwell was when they were at least on a par with what they could bring to the team, it seems unfair. Ditto Isiah Osborne.

good point, i agree
Salifou putting a shift in when he has no future here is admirable stuff

Sidwell had however come from one of the best teams in the country having previously been one of the standout midfielders in the league.

Salifou had struggled to get a game in the Swiss Challenge League.

It's hardly the same thing.

No, I agree with that, but I don't see it as relevant. Direct comparison showed them to be equal in aptitude. Where we got them from or how much we paid is unimportant.

I dunno about no future here, he's like Marshall; here to add some experience to the reserves. He's played in a World Cup lets not forget.

He's not shite, but he's not good enough for the first team but I wouldn't be surpised if he was still here next season.

Not really. Salifou has played for us four times in four years. Sidwell, for all his ineffectiveness did do a decent job for a good part of his first season, scoring a couple of useful goals in the process.

In answer to the earlier question, Gardner is a midfielder in the Gerrard mould. Not sure how good he is as a ref mind.

Good to see us back to winning after 4 straight defeats, I think Warnock and Baye played in the last few which we lost, did anyone see those games who would like to comment on those two?

Reserve football is not a good guide to how a player will perform in the prem, we are not so well off for top players that the coaches would be overlooking anyone that could generally help us out of the shit. For those that have seen a fair bit of him could Gary Gardner play along side Bent and is he an agressive player?
