So, the squads have been announced.

Twenty20 squad Stuart Broad (capt), Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright.

One-day squad Alastair Cook (capt), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Stuart Broad, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Jonanathan Trott, Chris Woakes.

Here's what I'd go with:

T20

Michael Lumb
Craig Kieswetter
Kevin Pietersen
Ian Bell
Ravi Bopara
Eoin Morgan
Samit Patel
Stuart Broad (capt)
Graeme Swann
Chris Woakes
Jade Dernbach

ODI

Alastair Cook (capt)
Craig Kieswetter
Jonathan Trott
Kevin Pietersen
Ian Bell
Eoin Morgan
Samit Patel
Stuart Broad
Graeme Swann
Chris Woakes
Jade Dernbach

Fairly settled sides and I'd leave Anderson & Finn to concentrate on Test Cricket. Maybe swap Wright in for Lumb.

With one or two exceptions it is the squad for the 50 overs matches that failed in the recent World Cup! Why?

I am so annoyed that I hope we lose today, how did Geoff Miller and the selection team come to the conclusion to drop IAN BELL....................Yet Luke Wright and Bopara are in the team

Someone mentioned the other day that Broad and Bell don't get on, wonder if it's Broad's way of giving Bell the big "Fuck you". (If this is true of course then Broad should be axed).

KP and Morgan excellent, the rest terrible. We have too many 'jack of no trades' in there, Wright is consistently poor. Samit Patel is too fat for international cricket, you want to play get into fucking shape.

Agreed Paul.....We picked 3 specialist batsmen, 1 wicketkeeper and 7 bowlers who "think" they can bat a bit

Yep classic mistake. Look who scored the runs, proper batsmen.

Woakes does not look international class at all here.

Agreed but why isnt Finn playing ??? I suspect Broad sees him as a threat to his place in the test team. As you said too many bits and pieces cricketers

Woakes, in time, will become a very good international cricketer, so as such I'm not overly concerned with his start today.

It's some of the other selections that I cannot understand - Patel, Bopara and Wright immediately spring to mind.
