I think the last two innings of KP have answered all questions as to whether he should be in the side, class player.

It was a great knock by KP but he continues to frustrate! There was a big hundred for the taking and it looked to me that he wanted to get to three figures before the close. His mind was as much on the headlines as it was on the interests of the team.

On his day he is a joy to watch but I can't help but think that he hasn't fulfilled his talents. He could and should be up there with Ponting but he continually just falls short.

No problem with KP getting out like that, the match situation needs us to get runs very quickly and he was trying to do that.

Cook has now scored six successive half-centuries.

And Bell now has five successive half-centuries and is averaging 212 for this series.

Ian Bell for me is the most technically gifted player we have in the International set up. He now knows he belongs at this level too, and you can see it in the confidence he has with the bat.

I think the move down to No.5 has benefitted him, he can use his natural flair.

He is now averaging over 100 for this and the Ashes Tests combined.

He's so good to watch when in form.

Outscored KP when they were in together yesterday, apparently.

Anyone remember when he was batting at 6 against Pakistan a few years ago? Scored an absolute bucketload. He clearly thrives lower down the order.

Its been an extremely poor bowling performance so far today.  Fair play to Sangakarra though.

England have just seemed to lack any sort of intensity.

Raining now.

In fairness, we could bowl for a fortnight the way we have today and not get them out.
