Very peculiar tactics today from the Bears.  They should definitely have got the 4th batting point.

Hope it doesn't come back to bite us.

They did the same in the last game against Notts. Putting all their eggs in the innings victory basket was how the Independent correspondent described it.

The Pears have collapsed from 255 for 3 to 288 for 9.  Now all out without getting the bonus point they badly needed.

It just seems odd to me.  We needed 54 in about 14 overs on a flat pitch against a poor attack.  We didn't even make an effort to go after the point.

The run rate dramatically improved in the Notts game.  It hasn't here.

Anyway, 8 down now.  May as well get bowling.

I think Worcester's collapse might help the Bears. Hampshire now know they have a chance of survival but only if they win and go hell for leather to get 400 off 110 overs. That should mean we get opportunities for wickets.

It's going to be an interesting morning. Really hope we can get an early wicket. Just teaching my little one to shout "Howzat". COYB

I reckon we need 2 more wickets before the first 110 overs are up, to be a point clear of Lancashire. Then we'd just need to match their result. Could well be a draw in both games.

253-6. Dawson is still in and is a thorn in our side at the moment. Lancs are 100 ahead on first inns thanks to a last wicket partnership of 57!

3 quick wickets from the Bears. I think that means we just need to match their result to be champions.

Also, the vague chance of enforcing the follow on (need to get 3 wickets before they get 38 more runs). This may be a situation where we'd choose to bat for a bit first though?

Just hope Somerset don't collapse in their second innings.

What makes me laugh is in the media, for some reason no one seems to want the Bears to win. I hope we do it.

Lancashire are going to win their match.

Somerset are 25-3 in their second innings.
