Pity I'm at work. Might be able to sneak home early on Thursday to watch the conclusion if it's still going.

Bears need to get at least six bonus points (less if Lancs drop any). That way it stays in our hands... a win makes us Champions. If Lancashire get three or more bonus points than us they'll be Champions if they win regardless of how we get on.

Agreed.  The first task is to get maximum bonus points.

I don't know if I'm disappointed or not that Hants are already down.  Sometimes after a season of struggle, teams have one last hurrah after the axe has finally fallen.  Lancashire's opponents, Somerset, meanwhile are long-since out of the title race, Trescothick is injured and are perhaps mentally already putting feet up for the close season.

Hants are not already down though as if they beat us and Worcs mess up v Durham they could survive.

Think Worcestershire only need a few bonus points to finish above Yorkshire.

Wouldn't have minded it raining this week, giving the Bears the Championship, but the forecast says sunshine every day (typical).

Century for Chopra and Chanderpaul 73*

Not bad under pressure so far.

Durham aren't doing that well either, although Lancashire are the main threat.

Bears finish on 296 for 3 with 14 overs left to get bonus points and have 2 batting points so far

Somerset end on 314 for 5 and Lancs only have 6 overs left to get bonus points and have 1 bowling point so far

Durham 254 all out and Pears 21 for 1 so Durham only have 2 batting bonus points

I reckon day 1 to the Bears

I reckon we'll go for 350 before 110 overs is up. That'll leave us in a good position. One bowling point would be enough to ensure Durham can't win it, a win (assuming we get at least one bowling point) would guarantee the title whatever Lancashire do... and Lancs look like dropping at least one maybe two bowling points themselves.

Not a bad day at all. Still slightly worried about getting shafted by weather if everyone else gets blazing sunshine and we get a load of shit though.

COYB.

The weather is a concern but we are lucky that Taunton and Southampton are in the bottom half of the country and not too far apart so hopefully we both should get the same weather.................

I thought that but we already lost half an hour this morning while Lucky Lancs haven't lost a second's play in eight days. If they'd even had five minutes off the field in the last game, we'd have pretty much wrapped up the title already.

I make it that if we win and can take 6 wickets in the first 110 overs of Hampshire's innings then Lancashire can't catch us, even if they get maximum batting points and win their game.
