Thats the one!  But don't forget the West Ham and Everton peformances.
West Ham were awful and Everton were the better team and battered us but couldnt put the ball in the net we could.

No player this season has been "class"

Was Downing class on Saturday when was at fault for the cross going in for the goal or bottling challenges again in the second half as usual??

West Ham were awful, but we also played very well indeed.

As someone else said, Everton was just like Man City at home, they mullered us for 89 minutes, in the other minute, we scored.

Milner has to take a lot of credit for the West Ham game and we've missed him badly.
Ridiculous that Man City use him on the wing.

Indeed, what kind of a limp-witted dunderhead would take a player who's played his best football down the middle and stick him out on the wing?

I just hope all of what has gone on doesn't effect  Gordon Cowans too much, what must he be thinking?
Houlliers apointment was a mess from the first minute of interviews, inviting Kevin Mac to apply then not installing him (I personally dont think he is a premier league manager, he is a bit nieve, but he is great with the kids) then signing Houllier who couldn't join us straight away. Garry McCallister was a disaster at Coventry and Leeds.
I followed us from the minute Tommy Doc was manager and supported us through the old 3rd division, I dont want to see us go down again.

I've heard there is an article in today's Sun from General Krulak - is it on here somewhere?

They've just quoted his post from on here and VT.

If it is true that Dunne could have played and shored up a defence that included a kid playing centre half who is a reserve midfield player and a rookie left back, then this is, in my opinion, the most disgraceful thing that Houllier has done in a long list of cock-ups.
To jepordise our Premier League status because of his own personal vendettas is a sackable offence on its own.
We could have had a back four of Walker, Dunne, Cuellar and Warnock on Saturday, that would have given us more solidity and a chance to win the game.
We need experience, guts, organisation and passion to stay in this league, not flicks, tricks and kids.
For gods sake Houllier just go and put Sid in charge.

I didn't find much to disagree with Pat Murphy about last night.

Thanks for clearing that up. Your original quote was poor and made it look like I said half the things you did.

If it is true that Dunne could have played

I'm still racking my memory banks to recall the incident when Dunne dislocated his shoulder in the City game... I watched the whole thing, I thought that the injury would have been picked up by the commentator at some stage.

Collins' calf injury - the one that he was supposed to have recovered from a week later and still hasn't - has been taking a while to clear up, too.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3482537/Aston-Villa-are-told-Go-kick-the-cp-out-of-Everton.html

ASTON VILLA have been ordered to 'Kick the crap' out of Everton.

The battle-cry was issued by Vietnam veteran General Charles Krulak, right-hand man to owner Randy Lerner.

Boss Gerard Houllier and his players are under the cosh, a point above the Prem drop zone.

Krulak now wants Villa to fight back, starting against Everton after the international break.

He said: "I know the forces are not football. But when my marines went into battle, they fought for their brothers-in-arms, the men wearing their uniform and emblem.

"When a player wears the club kit and badge, I'd expect the same. We need to kick the crap out of the teams we play until the end of the season!"

Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner has confirmed Houllier's job is safe.

He said: "Villa's best chance of staying up is with Gerard."

Totally agree with you, other than having Sid - now is not the time for an inexperienced manager.  It would be like Newcastle appointig Shearer and look how that worked out.

But about the experience thing - we need to put the incident behind us and play Dunne and Collins, fitness permitting, togther for the next 8 games.  I think that gives us a strong enough base to get the points we need.
