Till we sort out our shambolic defending, we'll be doomed to always struggle.

It's such a shame, we're capable of playing some really good stuff further up field, but we're just clueless at defending set pieces.

Yep, it would be interesting to see what percentage of our goals against come from set pieces. So much else about the way we play is positive but it makes us a soft touch. Not surprising today given we have 3 centre haves injured but it has been the same all season.

header from 3 yards. Could grandad have come for that??
predicted that goal... appalling defending yet again...

so predictable... if i can fucking see it, why cant that idiot manager...

How can you blame the manager for poor defending from the only defenders we have fit? Who would you have played there that would have prevented that goal?

That's missing the point, though, Dave.

A bit of coaching at defending corners might do the trick.

I'm sure they do, but having to play a different back four in nearly every game can't be helping.

Of course not, but this is a problem which has been with us for ages now, and is costing us big time.

Interesting you know which defenders to coach then, please inform us
How about you informing us as to why our defending at corners is farcial?
It's a sustained problem so it clearly isn't being sorted out in training.

The defence must be the only priority this summer. The rest of the side are good, maybe a striker light but not if we play this system. Keeper is the biggest problem. Never comes for anything which means always under pressure, no communication and just poor. Need a centre back that organises and a defence coach! GH at Liverpool had a top defence, mainly down to Hypia. We need something like that to defend set pieces. Someone who just attacks the ball like a mad man!
Oh for another Martin Laursen!

Baker is just learning what its all about yes he should have attacked the ball harder but he'll learn.

fuck me Friedel, I could have stopped that!

Eh? A header from inside the six yard box into the corner?
If you can save them then get yerself to Bodymoor on Monday and show them!

The fault lay with nobody putting a strong challenge in on Cahill.

Any ball that goes that close to the goalkeeper, should be claimed by the goalkeeper. Friedel has no command of his area and stands like a statue at set pieces.

How about all of them?

I'm sure if we had 4 regular defenders every week they would adopt to a system, each other  and the goals against would decrease.

Er.....All of them?  WTF are we doing on the training ground that makes us totally inept at defending corners?  You can't blame the manager for defensive mistakes, up to a point, but this is far more than that.  It happens every fuckin week!

Are we a PL side looking to win things or a side looking to bring on kids for the top teams ?

Doubt they'd consider giving a contract to a 46 year old fat fucker like me. Even so I doubt i'd have remained rooted to the goal line watching the ball go past me like some parody of a 1970's Scottish goalie.

Bullshit.
Every combination of our back 4 has leaked goals.

So you're attributing our feebleness at defending set pieces entirely to the fact we've had injuries at the back?

Well I could explain it to you in great detail but my guess it I'd be wasting my time.
