The review showed the ball pitching outside the line of the stumps so he cant be out, but for some reason he was walking back to the pavillion

It can pitch outside the line, that's fine. It's just it's got to hit in line.

It pitched inside, he was given not out because the impact was more than 2.5metres from the stumps.
