The media still appear to cling to Rooney as the saviour of English football. Personally I think he's peaked and it would not surprise me if he was sold suring the summer. Only a year ago he was allegedly up there with Messi & Ronaldo, now he's nowhere near in my book.A great goal yes, although there have been plenty better, I prefer to look at his first touch in the move that led to the goal. It looked like he hadn't taken his boots out of the box they came in.

It looked like he hadn't taken his boots out of the box they came in.It was only 12 months ago that he was being talked of as in the same league as Messi, and deservedly so. He hasn't fully regained his form since his injury but I can't see there be any possibility of them selling him after giving him that bumper contract a few months ago.
