Joe Cole? How strange. Not the type we need, not the position we need... bizarre. A big fan of his a couple of years back, but.... bizarre. With Ireland, Bannan, Albrighton, N'Zogbia we're up to our eyes in attacking midfield types. And most of those don't play. Still, I'd trade him for Heskey in that role just behind Bent.

By the end of his Chelsea time he was looking shit in a team full of quality, when playing with lesser quality at the dippers he was exposed and found out pretty quickly for what he is - a bit of a luxury in my opinion

I think  we all know about how much quality we have left in midfield - the only player we have who can pick a pass is going to have a tough time splitting the opposition defence with a ball from Greece!- so for me spunk what little we have on someone who's going to make a real difference to the midfield (not sure who that is now - all candidates discussed on here going elsewhere) - else save the cash and give Bannan a go.

What we need is a box to box dominant midfielder who can boss a game.
What that isn't is Joe Cole. I dont mind taking a chance on Cole if that player is also on the list. If not, its complete madness. We're struggling to fit Ireland into the starting line up and Cole is behind him I would say.

If we continue with the 4-2-3-1 sort of formation, then for the three we have N'Zogbia, Bannan, Ireland and Albrighton, so only one sub/back-up and as such a player like Cole, who can play centrally and wide, would be a good addition.  However, given the fact he likes to also use Gabby and Heskey there and the great weaknesses in other areas, I think it would be money used in the wrong place.

I keep hearing on 5Live that Scott Parker to Spurs can only happen if they off load a couple of players.
Seeing as we appear to have done our off loading already, is there still a chance we could go for him?
