I'm sure the Spurs bloke on about signing Ashley Young must be joking, Greg! Riffing on the fact they were about to sign him every transfer window for the last five years!

And what are you doing on Spurs' forums anyway?!

its didn't come across as a joke. they seem to consider any player as gettable however out of their class he is. As i said just looking for hutton news from their end. They don't actually seem that interested that he's possibly leaving though i suppose we wouldn't be that bothered if our 4th choice RB was going. if we have 4 right-backs that is........

Transfer deadline day, eh? I don't know. I wonder if it's in danger of becoming just a little commercialised?

It's a bit like SKY's Christmas Rush time

I must admit, I'll be surprised if Scott Dann ends up at Blackburn Rovers. I thought he'd do better than that. In fact, I'd hoped we'd get him, to be honest.

Re Dann, we still might get him.  I'd hope that Randy will feel more secure now that we have reduced our wage bill with the certainty that Beye/cuellar will be gone in the summer.  There are some pretty unique circumstances at BCity, therefore if the deal is right (fee/Wages/length of contract) he may still sanction the move now as it'll be deemed to be better value for money than doing a deal for another player next year.

Just don't hold your breath.

I see Mat Kendrick has said that the Hutton deal has stalled- Levy playing hardball over the fee. Great news when we've sold Luke Young and Lichaj is out for four months. This proves the folly of selling before replacements are confirmed. This has always been Villa's risky policy. Well done Randy!

Scott dann would be great and with arse, spurs and liverpool all lining up other centre halfs maybe we could do a davies type deal of loan now and cash in the summer.

Wishful thinking maybe, but today is the day we are allowed to dream.

Do they? I thought some rich bloke took over recently.

They've also got something like a £50m tax bill from HMRC after they lost a tax tribunal.

maybe hes heard that lichaj out for 4 months and sees a chance to up the price knowing villa are desperate for a right back- levy is far too smart to miss a chance and we are sitting ducks.

Yep, see this link:

Rangers in the shit.

Interestingly (or to be more precise, boringly) I've had several long discussions with the QC in that case.

Why are we after Hutton? The Spuds will use that money to get Cahill.
Lets just get Cahill back.

oof!.

Rule No.1. Never mess with the taxman. They're above the law and nearly always win.

Lerner has dug a big hole for himself by promising a bright future then leaving everything to the biggest ego in football and we all see now how that turned out. Does anyone have any idea of what our wages are now compared to before the fire sale?

Surely Downing and Young were among our top earners so that's a saving of at least 130k a week? Then we got nearly £40m for them both too. Luke Young, NRC, Friedal, Carew  is surely a saving of at least 170k at a minimum?  Say N'Zogbia and Given are on 50,000 each we must be saving at least 250,000 each week plus having about £25m extra in the bank.

That's a conservative estimate. Surely we can afford to bring in two decent payers? Remember the way the Dwight Yorke money was spent? Dion, Merson...wise up Randy!

I'd tell Levy to Do One.  Probably the biggest justification for signing Hutton was that we would get him quite cheaply.  I'd sign Clyne who I'd guess would be available for around 1-2m and use Beye as an insurance policy.
