Makoun: I'm really disappointed. Was hoping we'd be brave this season and play him and Delph together. Makoun can play, just needs/needed someone with a bit of fire alongside him. Shame. With him and Hogg going within days of each other, we're super-light in midfield.

Who's coming in? We've missed out on Hitz, Parker, Barton, Nolan, Palacios, Adam, NRC (coming back), Larsson. Don't know who's on the radar... Hargreaves? Gibson? We need a big player in there but not sure if we'll get that player....

Previously AMc has taken players on loan from abroad eg Helb and errrr that's all I can think of, so maybe that's where he is looking.  There certainly isn't a long queue of suitable and available candidates in the Prem.

I think the loan market might see 2-3 players coming and maybe permanent, say Hargreaves on 15k a week plus pay as you play and extensions after x games. I would be tempted to loan Joe Cole if no one else offers, he has a massive point to prove and will want to be in the England squad next summer, and he would give us creativity. Onourha on loan would be fairly cheap too. Then maybe someone from abroad they have lined up. Benega would be wonderful, and unlikely, but would fit that number 10 role. He had Benitez and Zarate on loan previously, so maybe there is a South American unkown we can get in!

I make it we have a squad of 22 as things stand if you include Baker, Gardner, Beye, Lichaj and part of me thinks they may stick with this until January. Hope I am wrong as woefully short in midfield (other positions ok I reckon).

The resemblance to relegated teams is becoming startling. When AM arrived, Faulkner definitely said they were all in cosy agreement about transfer targets. Sneaky not to mention that meant ship out 10-15 players and sign 2 mediocre ones.
