I bet all these people who are saying we should sign Bridge, Wright-Phillips, Poulsen and the like are the same ones who slagged MoN off for signing the likes of Harewood, Heskey, Knight and Davies.

DF Alan Hutton - Equal par to Luke.
DF Vedran Ćorluka - Better than Hutton
DF Wayne Bridge - Makes Warnock look like Roberto Carlos
DF Phillipen Deggen - From the little I've seen is poor
DF Nedum Onuoha - Would have him in a heart beat. Quality player.
MF Jermaine Jenas - 1 good game in 4.
MF Niko Kranjčar  - Would add some creativity to our midfield.
MF Shaun Wright-Phillips - Bobbins
MF Christian Poulsen - Bobbins
MF Joe Cole - Not sure his head/heart are in it anymore. If he can recapture his form at Chelsea would be an excellent signing. Wages too much though.
Fw David N'gog - A poor man's Balaban
FW Craig Bellamy - Not sure where he would fit in to the style AM seems to play. Bit too much of a troublemaker too.
FW Peter Crouch - No better than Gabby or Bent, would rather we concentrate on giving Fonz and Wieman a chance.

Mr N'zogmariner -great name btw- i am a  respecter of opinions
its great to see you give that in regards to your thoughts on players

purely speculative that any of these players are on there way and thanks for giving me a new word which i wont use but at least learned today - 'bobbins'

Wud you care to throw some names into your next post purely to speculate and discuss

our trade out record has been impressive in monetary terms.
In competitive terms not so- losing our best players means a continous re-building process and can like in case of barry, milner downing see the palyer not hang around.

We've sold 4 'top players' starting with Barry and signed three - Downing, Bent and N'Zogbia.  OK, Downing has left aswell, but up until this window we've always look to replace quality with quality.

Quite right we have replaced with some decent players very good point made but the key word here is replacing -- lets be adding to push on or just stand still as it were
To compete strengthen the squad not rebuild

Couldn't agree more, but when the players leave you can't add to them, only replace them.

Would you rather have kept downing ??
Player of season already a stand out palyer for liverpool
Created a lot of goals and injected pace

N'zogbia is a maverick and is seen as a repalcement for 2 players

a few more like swp or bellamy on loan would be nice

They've played ONE game!

Quite rite and as i said already a stand out player we can base that on his last few seaons for villa and the 'quality' he has in the liverpool team with him

Downing is going from strength t strength  . How about Kun aguero - stand out palyer ?? again teh same been excceelnet for ath madrid he simialrly wil seemingly continue his great play

What i would love is for villa to add to them that would be fab. From there intergrating youth/local players and the home based and being competive with a view to always moving forward
Its funny to think that say a few signings will give us  a belief that instead of 8-12  a push from 5-8 would be more guranteed belief

Downing was the best of a bad bunch last season.
I still maintain that he was a SENIOR professional and should have taken more responsibility on the field when times got tough. A lot of the time he went missing. He has (had?) great potential but simply didn't do enough.
N'Zogbia is a different type of player to both Ash and Downing so will probably be contributing to a different style(s) of play not the same old one.
SWP and Bellamy are way past their sell by date

Sadly I don't think there are that many players around cheap enough to sign and accept cheap enough wages that could do a job for us, so to that end Randy would have to splash out. If that were to happen I'd like to see us go in for -

Scott Parker
Mahamadou Diarra
Daniel Sturridge (Loan)
Scott Sinclair

Fanciful signings - Raul and Trezeguet

I see harry says now it's difficult to hold modric and it looks as if he will be sold after all- with adebayor and diarra already lined up Harry reckons he would use the modric money on 3 more players- like a kid in a sweet shop giving Harry £35m .

Not just us suffering as everton have revealed they must sell to buy players now- feel sorry for moyes.

Any Decision yet on the qpr bid for Scott Parker?

Regards Modric thats a deal like cesc spurs holding out for money and saving face not to give in

Luka wants champions league and to basically be at a big club in a peaceful area of london

The spurs board have to look like they are holding on to players to appease there somewhat deluded fans.
conincidently these spurs lot will hopefully lose tonight to hearts - thats 5/1 odds! and gett a bashing from man u aswell ha bottom of league going onto september ??

I think VillaZog's probably got it about right....there's so little about for us in our circumstances. Parker/Barton are the type of players we need and have been in good form, but both bring different sorts of problems, ie age/expense/effect on dressing room. Diarra would be a good shout but again he's getting on a bit, but not past it as I think SWP and Bellamy are, who would both cost loads but add very little IMO.
I would love to see Sturridge up front with Bent - a lethal pairing that could scare the shit out of defences. In fact I think I would go for this deal before a DM (Parker/Barton) as I still think Makoun/Delph could do a great job for us there.
I have said on here many times about giving the kids (must stop calling 21/22 year old "kids"!) a chance and I stick by that. We don't want a load of expensive benchwarmers as under MON and who are preventing us from bringing in other players now!

My worry is we're ok for our starting 11. If we pick up an injury or losig a game 1-0. Or indeed winning a game 1-0 and need to sure things up midfield wise, AM looks to the bench and does what? You can't rely purely on our youth. The likes of Anelka, Cole, Diarra, Bellamy, Kranjcar, Parker give us options. Some depth in the squad and depth in the form of senior, seasoned premiership players.

Some of these players might be on high wages but as with most loan deals we would only be paying a percentage of the wages anyway which makes it a viable option for us.
