I truly and honestly cannot believe that we will end the window without at least one new face

ON another note

I really will be rooting for Man city in every game they play (apart from us) I really want them to win fucking everything
League - they have a real chance and the only team to threaten United i feel
FA Cup - depends on how serious they take it
C.Cup - will be least on their agenda
Champ league - could see them going all the way - loads of experienced players in there and a bloody great squad

My reason for them to win - only then may the owners get bored and piss off so the rest of us feel that we belong because at the moment i honestly feel like "what is the point" and i bet a few fans and even owners feel the same way

On the other hand, success might tempt other rich bastards to take over shit clubs and do the same. If it's not us it happens to, them we are back to square one. I have to say though, they have at least bought a player in that will be great to watch, that Aguerro bloke.

Like your style. I can't wait to hear Manu and Chelsea fans moaning about how unfair it is as well.

Out of interest, who are we going to trade?

Cuellar by the looks of it is one we'd let go, but who else?

Well, if he goes that's £2m and £40k a week off the wages.  The Bolton defender goes to Arsenal and that's another £1-2m to us.  If we can somehow get someone to take Beye for free and pay half his wages that's another £20k a week saved.

So, what's out there for for between £2-4m and £40-60k a week?  If what Pelty said about the funds for fees being there, then those two off the wages might mean an extra £5m or being freed made available by Randy.

I'd be tempted to use the wages only for someone like Diarra on a free and save the rest for Jan.

I can't really see anyone paying 20k a week for Beye, he's about to his 34. For the same reason, I can't see the player even being interested in going elsewhere, it's not as if he's got a move to play for next summer. He'll sit tight and pick up his 40k.

Cuellar won't be going anywhere in a hurry as he's still injured, and the main suitors for him can't afford anything like that kind of money.

I'd like to say Heskey but on the evidence of Saturday's line up  AM obviously views him as our Maradona, Del Piero figure. God help us.

For those who are finding optimism from statements when exactly the opposite is being said then I salute your positivity but the club couldn't have made it clearer. We're not getting anyone else. This is how we roll now.

I kneel down then I put my hands on the floor in front of me. That's how I roll.

If it were me, I'd have been trying to move Petrov on since May, pull in £2m for him use that plus wages to go towards bringing in a midfield upgrade.

But as for realistic options now, can't see we have any. Beye's going nowhere, we've made a rod for our own backs there. Cuellar at £2m would be a great buy for someone - why only Rangers in for him, you have to wonder. Heskey's clearly at the forefront of the manager's plans. I don't see anyone else coming in.

Thats not a roll that's a'Gambol'. A roll goes on a horizontal plane like a Swiss one or a roll of carpet.

I admit I was going with a 'best case scenario' there, but the only players likely to/we'd want to leave are Carlos, Beye and maybe Heskey.  The good thing is that the incoming fees aren't nearly as important to us as their wages, so with them all being out of contract next summer it's a problem with a clear end in sight.  I guess it's a case of if anything happens to bring that end nearer then great, and it may prompt Randy to take a lessened short term hit.

it was a gag for the benefit of our fans outside the west midlands ;)

Plus the action involved in that sort of roll is harder to describe.

Cuellar by the looks of it is one we'd let go, but who else?

Wouldn't be stunned to see Makoun back to Lyon before the close of the window. The player who was keeping him out of the side there has since moved on, he knows the club and was very popular there.

You can tell he's a decent player, good close control and awareness of teammates. But his tackling is a fair way short of reliable at the moment. Could be just a case of getting him up to speed, but if he's unsettled after the departure of the manager who brought him in a move might be best for all parties.

Either way, I think there will be a rush of activity come the last week of the window. If we lose Cuellar and or Makoun say, but gain any two from Milner, Johnson, Parker or Hitz by Sept 1st it would be difficult too argue that the squad hasn't been strengthened -even if the numbers are roughly the same. Milner or Johnson would obv be short term deals -initially at least.

Hutton in for Luke Young would also be an upgrade (though not a major one) if the latter goes to Fulham. He's also much younger than Luke - even though he doesn't look it.

He better not leave I've got his name on the back of my shirt! But in all seriousness I think we should perservere with Makoun I think he can be very good.

unless of course the so called itk poster of a couple a weeks back who reckoned there was going to be one more big sale is correct-gabby to newcastle is still a rumour doing the rounds although not sure id class that as a big sale in the context of things.
