Bent, Gabby, Heskey, The Fonz and Bill Wiemann says to me we have decent options up front. I'd be quite happy to get a better targetman than Ivanhoe should we be able to move him on, or look for a 'link' forward.

But other positions would be a bigger priority, in all honesty.

Before bent arrived we were in the bottom 3 with those other strikers-not enough goals and if bent gets injured long term we will be struggle to score.

That was with Gabby injured and then played wide.

We all knows he does well as a lone striker, so although we won't score the same amount of goals, we've got as good a replacement as we could realistically ask for if Bent gets injured.

gabby looks a shadow of the player he was 2 yrs ago in my opinion, his brother reportedly tweeted recently about him being not happy,he is not best suited playing wide and may find himself on the bench a lot this season.

I see gabby as very much a confidence player and mon certainly got the best out of him .

We're okay for strikers - better than okay. Bent's fantastic. Stepping in for him if unavailable would be Gabby, who'd relish being back in a central role. Heskey and the Fonz could play supporting roles. I quite liked the little cameos we saw from Fonz last season. We also have The Zog, who is versatile enough to come off the wings and play a slightly more withdrawn role alongside/just behind a striker. Like Young last season, but I'd argue more suited to that role.

We need a top-class central midfielder and can just about get by everywhere else, although lack of depth and quality a concern elsewhere.

We'd be nuts to use what little money we have to get another striker.
I'd be prioritising a decent midfielder first and foremost, someone to replace Petrov for the next 5 years.

I don't think Gabby and Bent work particularly well as a partnership and that we are better off using a midfield five with Gabby as an option from the bench.

I'm not slagging Gabby off. He can be a terrific player and he scores important goals but that is when he is up front alone or with a partner he can play well with like Carew.

Odemwingie anyone ?

Very good player, £6 mill I reckon.

youd have to at least double that and more.

Reported they have put an 8mill price tag on his head, because he wants to leave.

He'll probably go for £6m.
For me i'd be worried about his age (30) and the fact that he could well be a 'one season wonder.'

We need to spread it across, not spend all we have !

Odemwingie is too old. Spending that sort of money on a 30year old is how we got in this mess in the first place

Raul could be going to Blackburn. Imagine if he's at Villa Park on Sat!

Exactly. It would be spread VERY thinly and if that was the case I'd rather not bother and throw the kids in.

Some players are worth forking out for at that age, Parker being one of them, but Odemwingie not, IMO.  With Parker the wages are also a factor, but not so much with this guy I'd reckon - just that if we was truely any good we'd have heard of him before he turned 30!

Well, if we genuinely have fuck all, and Randy has taken the reported £15 mill out of the club - we're only slightly better off with Randy in charge then we were with Ellis.

No wonder the Gen's fucked off.
