The club have been very 2 faced over the money available to McLeish. Krulak said that he would be backed. Thus far he has got a squad that has lost our only defensive midfield player, our best 2 outfield players and yet he has been allowed a keeper and 9.5 million signing. Not even all the Downing cash, let alone the Young money, and the board seemingly are not being asked why. Happily praise them for the good things they have done since coming to VP, but they should face the tough questions too. Long, long, long hard season ahead.

We spent the money on Bent and Makoun. Don't say "that was the Milner money" as we made no more than about £2m profit on Milner.

Shola Amoebi signed a three year contract today.

I am genuinely surprised that he is 29 years old.

I expected him to be 24 / 25 tops.

Milner cost £12m and was sold for £18m and Ireland. £6m profit?

Really? I'd have thought older.

He was playing regularly for Newcastle over a decade ago.

Is there not another, younger version of Shola knocking about.

Seems we are interested in bringing Tommy Hitz back then, just not until a wage has gone. He would be a good signing in our current situation.

General Krulak made his comments about backing AM and how "you'll see how we back him in the next couple if weeks" plus "imagine what he can do with a chairman who really backs him" soon after he was appointed.

Since then we've sold two of our three best players for 36m, spent 13m, 4 of which was to replace the keeper we'd just released, called a halt to the spending and released ten other players - many of whom were kids, but also included the likes of NRC, Carew and Friedel. Oh, and for good measure, we are also trying to sell Cuellar.

I don't know how we expect AM to move us on from last season with the squad so significantly weaker.

Crossing our fingers and hoping seems to be the only option.

Yes but if you include the signing on fee of both players and the fact that we would have had to pay Milner a 'loyalty fee' as he didn't request a transfer. I took signing-on fees and loyalty fees to be about £1 million a pop. Plus I think it was £16m plus Headcase, not £18m. Might be wrong on that though.

The guy who called from the club to try and talk me into renewing essentially said I can only hope your love for the club brings you back as despite trying, he knew there was very little to be excited about on the pitch. I think Eck will do well with what he has, but well is 12-9th now, not 7th-4th.

well i think we all know the General is a busted flush. Bottom line is AM has not been backed in any sense of the word. He's had 37m worth of players taken out his squad and probably 2 of the biggest wages earners taken off, and 15m spent. Add to that probably 200k a week taken off in wages since the end of the season. No wonder he doesn't dare show his face.

The Daily Mail says we'll sign Hitzelsperger when/if we shift Cueller.

Great.

I very much like him as a person but i can't see how he fits in personally. Do we need a hitzleberger?

Hitz would be a complete waste of wages I think.
I'd prefer to sign no one than have him effectively taking up the wages in our squad for the next three or four years.

Looks likely if Cuellar goes: in the Graun as well. Cuellar posted on Facebook, yesterday I think, that he was in Birmingham and not Glasgow, despite reports to the contrary.
