Be a good move for Herd - I think he, Lowry & Hogg are all canidates for loans elsewhere.

Totally disagree

At 22 he should be good enough to play for us in the PL not going out on loan.

If you can cut in in the Prem you should be able to do it before you are 22

Oh yeah? great move that - reduce an already wafer thin squad even further!

I would'nt hesitate to get Walker in, purely as a winger though, he's as much a right back as what I am.

Dunno, I think his strength is in that he comes charging from deep. His technique (especially crossing) is pretty poor and if he was an actual winger the focus would be on his productivity

Herd, Lowry and Hogg are not good enough IMO.  They may be good youth or reserve team players but i guarantee that they will not cut it in the premiership.  If they are going to be loaned out, it should be to premiership teams so they get premier league experience not championship for example Tom Cleverly from Utd.  He went to Wigan for a season amd played week in week out on the prem.  Good experience for him and im sure it has made him a better player.  loaning players to the championship is a waste of time as standard of footy is not the best.

I take your point but I don't think any of the three are good enough to be in the first team at the moment and unfortunately these days in the PL with so much at stake, the chances of fielding a few kids to see how they get on just don't exist. By loaning them out we get their wages covered, the play regularly and we see if they're good enough. If nothing else it might help inflate their value for sale next summer.

Upson in talks at Stoke. They are short of a centre half.

So they'll have Huth, Shawcross, Woodgate, Upson. Not bad. Probably been able to negotiate hard on the wages front for Woodgate and Upson too, given their circumstances. That's decent quality cover they've got there now, both on frees.

Totally agree. We have too many players who are too old to be still going out on loan if they aren't good enough now they never will be. We need to be very lucky this season with injuries if we want to aim for a mid table finish.

Bob if you look at all of our talented youngsters in the case of every one of them this season they need to start shitting or get off the bog

I feel its the fault of the management not the players. I mean can anyone please tell me how Osbourne managed to remain a Villa player until last season?

Agree totally

MON should have gone purely for Salifou.

If he was on say 10k per week we flushed 2 million down the toilet.

Totally true about Osbourne. How long has it been known that he was never going to be a first team player ? Just a complete waste of money, when he should of been moved on ages ago ........

It is frightening how bloated our squad became before the summer clear out, at the end of last season we had a pool of 13 players to pick from in central midfield for a maximum of 3 positions in the team, Pires, NRC, Petrov, Makoun, Salifou, Hogg, Herd, Gardner, Bannan, Ireland, Delph, Osbourne and Bradley.
