Sunderland after Warnock for £3m?

If i felt confident we would replace him quickly i would snap their hand off. As it is, i'm not so sure.

Yes, me too.  Must be about 3 quarters of his time here he's been either dropped completely from the squad or shite.   However the other quarter he was quite decent.

Ouch, good spot.

how much cash?
noticed on newcastle forums their fans were saying gabby worth about £5m when they were linked to him ,id value gabby higher than that but odemwingie was excellent last season for albion , doubt they would let him go unless for really big money.

Shame really had high hopes for Fonz..........he always looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights and playing on the wing is not his forte.

The thought of Adolf playing for us though is something really hard to get my head around!

The thing is though, often when he's played up front he's scored, but he doesn't look to have enough in his game allround to warrant starting ahead of Bent and Gabby. Who knows, with a run in the side he might end up a better option than Gabby, but it would be a risk trying it out. Would we risk not being as effective up front whilst he gets up to speed (with no guarantee that he will eventually click)? That's why, for now, he needs to remain back up and maybe come on as sub here and there. And that's why DJC might be worth a punt for low cost. There's no guarantee Heskey or Delfouneso are going to be much or any use next season, i think it would be an extra option in case of injury or loss of form to the main 2, or even as a super-sub. He does have pace and an eye for goal in the box.
If it were for any kind of substantial amount i'd say no, as the money needs spending elsewhere, and he certainly wouldn't come in as serious contention for first choice, with everyone fit.

Nah man. Heskey plus cash maybe though. However, we probably wouldn't have enough to make up the difference.

DJ Campbell. Christ alive. If we're really that impoverished, we should have got Kevin Phillips back who at least knows where the goals are.

Gabby and Bent will not work. People hear are kidding themselves about Gabby being useful wide in a 3 either. Lets face it, he has one position and one position only up front by himself. He has been pretty successful at it too, 16 goals in 09/10 in a fine season but Bent will always be a better goal threat. His movement is in a different league to Gabby and will guarantee more goals. Gabby has other qualities but lacks the guile of Bent as a single forward and isnt intelligent enough to partner him or anyone for that matter. Pretty harsh on Gabby who 12 months ago was probably worth close to the 10m mark but its time we started looking for other options.

P.S. Didnt realise Odemwingie is 30.

I think N'Zogbia has been known to play through the middle, which he could do from time to time with Bent, which is why i think we could do with another winger if anything. We're not going to get anywhere playing Fonz or Gabby out on the flank, neither are wingers and neither can cross.

well said,i agree with those comments.,nobodiy saying gabby is rubbish but he and bent does not work as they are too similar and get in each others way.

bent is better as a lone striker with players supporting him out wide and and an attacking midfielder behind him.

Aye. If i was AM, i'd have a special polystyrene box made for Bent to minimalise the risk of injury, and none of this risky training lark - just stick him in a display case between games.

So your worry about what we do if Bent gets injured is daft then?

We play Gabby up front on his own

Not sign and play DJ fucking Campbell.

DJ Campbell is fucking shit. How many shit players have had one good season with a promoted team before reverting back to their old shit level? Too many to count.

Besides with Blackpool's attacking football and the number of chances he had 13 goals was probably a disappointing return.
