Warnock, Young, Lichaj, N'Zogbia, Lowry, Baker, Delph and Clark can all cover left back to varying degrees.
Young, Cuellar, Beye, Lichaj, Collins and Herd can all cover right back to varying degrees.

Listening to offers doesn't mean that he's got to sell all three before bringing in Hutton.

exactly  gordon but it was you who wrote this-

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keen to sign Spurs defender Alan Hutton, but must fund the move by selling defenders Habib Beye, Luke Young and Carlos Cuellar.
Full story: Daily Mirror

your interpretation above that he must sell those 3 to fund the move is clearly wrong , maybe one of those would be sold but not all 3.
.
That was not my writing, it was  cut and paste from BBC rumours. My comment was "What a load of B@llocks"

It's silly season as the journs think we have money from the selling of Ash and Stewie and adding 2 + 2 and getting fourty two !

Just because they can't hack the agents phones at the mo

We don't need 3 wingers, but do need 3 wingers/ wide midfielders imo, a Kranjcar/Cole/Benayoun type option would be nice.

Can anyone else suggest any busted flush/highlight players for us to avoid at all costs?

If we're looking for a cheap option for the above, then I wouldn't be at all suprised to see us go for another loan-option fro Hleb.  I know he didn't pull-up any trees with the Blose last year but he did show a few flashes of his old self and would be decent, experienced cover both out-wide and for that playmaker to play behind Bent.

I get what you mean, but considering the manager he didn't pull any trees up for was AM, I can't see him going there again.

I know what you mean about Cole, but the other 2 would be great fits at Villa, IMHO.

The problem with Kranjcar is that Spurs won't sell him unless/until Modric's future is sorted and only then at a ridiculous price. And Benayoun will want to hang about to see how much he figures in AVB's plans at Chelsea for a bit.

Fair point John, but I suppose I'm working on the presumption that AM's going to have to paly a different system with us, that will allow a Hleb-esque player to play behind Bent, rather than the 4-4-2 he had at the Sty. At the moment we're all just hoping that Ireland jumps into a time-machine and pretends he's playing alongside Robinho again come August, but we really need a solid, dependable Plan B for that position just-in-case, and I'm not sure that Bannan's quite there yet.

642 pages so far. 2 best players sold. 10+ released. A least 2 spongers still on books eg Beye & Heskey. 1 mediocre keeper signed. Reverse gear. Relegation scrap ahoy.

Had you ever even heard of Arsenio Halfhuid, Durrell Berry, Ellis Deeney and Calum Flanagan before they became part of this "Ten players released, the sky's falling in" idiocy?

When the usually full of sense PaulieBentnuts started quoting it to help illustrate how shit our summer has been I decided to become a happy-clapper.

I'd actually prefer to see Delph gicen a chance in that (presumed) Ireland positiion before Bannan.

Hadn't really considered Delph there, to be honest. Will be interesting to see who he starts there Tomorrow, with Ireland still injured. I'd imagine Bannan will have to take one of the wide-berths so it may well be Delph playing behind Bent.

Kevin Lisbie - a Carl Leaburn for the jilted generation.
I wouldn't mind us taking a punt on Jason Euell though. Talented boy, just waiting to fulfill his promise...

Delph's a combative box to box man for me, with an eye for a pass, don't think he's an attacking mid really.

Always liked Carl Leaburn as his surname is my entire name minus an 's'.

Anyway, I like the look of that Noel Whelan myself......
