Clampy - how do you know she's taken her own life?  An assumption I suggest rather than fact!
Until a post mortem who knows, and even if an overdose it doesnt necessarily mean suicide.

I think I might have missed something through being away - has there been a statement about 'the financial situation' (which would make sense) or is it still all reading between the lines?

Thanks

We are looking at one more quality player coming I as mcleish has said and it's well known we are looking at the new financial rules with a view to lowering wage outlay and to give the younger players a chance- there may be a couple of free or loan signings but Parkers cost and wages would appear out of our budget from mcleish comments.

After record losses last year we cannot really be surprised However disappointing it is.

thanks again - I was expecting us to spend more of the money from the sales of our star players.

So pop music and television are not part of popular culture?

Hmmmmm - interesting theory!

It isn't. As Chris said, sport, music and television are part of popular culture.

well i thought i'd check and there's many definitions of culture around but most seem to fit my general assumptions. For instance:

"the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. ..."

now i've tried my best but even i'm struggling to shoehorn the article "NICE ONE CHERYL BUT WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?" into that definition of culture

There you go, from wikipaedia. That cultural enough for you?

"In the United Kingdom, sociologists and other scholars influenced by Marxism, such as Stuart Hall and Raymond Williams, developed Cultural Studies. Following nineteenth century Romantics, they identified "culture" with consumption goods and leisure activities (such as art, music, film, food, sports, and clothing). Nevertheless, they understood patterns of consumption and leisure to be determined by relations of production, which led them to focus on class relations and the organization of production. In the United States, "Cultural Studies" focuses largely on the study of popular culture, that is, the social meanings of mass-produced consumer and leisure goods. The term was coined by Richard Hoggart in 1964 when he founded the Birmingham Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies or CCCS."

Has this been mentioned yet?
It was in the Sunday People.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has Matthew Upson and James McFadden in his sights.
