Daily Mail saying Moutinho to replace Essien at Chelsea, hopefully leaving us a free run at Parker.

No need to get arsy chris. You're obviously blinded by typefaces and style over content. I'm sure if you found a leather bound Jeffrey Archer book in the classic literature section of your local bookstore you'd be claiming he was up there with Shakespeare

That doesn't even make sense. I'm just stating facts. The tabloids have far more column inches devoted to transfer rumour, gossip and invention that the broadsheets do. It's not a matter of opinion or style over substance, it's just the way things are. The reason people buy a quality paper over the Daily Wanker is that they don't want to read about who Ashley Cole is fucking or who they are pretending today that we are definitely going to sign.

They do get some things right but in order to fill the paper they have to pad it out with a lot if rubbish.

Due the the financial situation I don't think Parker is a likely option anymore.

Cant see that happening.......McLeish said one more signing last week and you would presume that would be a winger

the guardian don't cover celebrity stories like the tabloids????! Hmmm, i may just have a quick peep when i pop down to the supermarket and see the 10 or 12 pages of endless drivel about Amy Whitehouse that won't be there. *cough*

I agree with Chris's comments about the standard of writing and general content of a Times or Independent being far superior to a Sun or Mirror and a much more worthwhile purchase. I wouldn't altogether disagree with Greg's roundabout way of saying that the Times etc are not much more accurate than a Sun etc with regards to Transfer stories. They all have a pretty poor record in that respect.

I think I might have missed something through being away - has there been a statement about 'the financial situation' (which would make sense) or is it still all reading between the lines?

Thanks

mcliesh said there was one player coming in "for now". How you take the words " for now" depends very much whether you're a glass half full or empty type of guy.

It's hardly gossip when the poor girl has died. It's a million miles away from Ryan Giggs affair or Cheryl And Ashley having another barney. You know you're wrong here but your insecurity will not allow you to admit it.

The really bizarre thing about this is that you say you think 99% of all press talk is bullshit and yet you spend hours on this thread every day discussing it.

Considering a 10m album selling and Grammy Award winning singer has lost her life*, i would take a wild guess that her story will be in the Guardian.

Pictures of Jordan staggering out of a nightclub with her tits out won't be though.

Such a shame people are too sad to want to argue otherwise.

We are looking at one more quality player coming I as mcleish has said and it's well known we are looking at the new financial rules with a view to lowering wage outlay and to give the younger players a chance- there may be a couple of free or loan signings but Parkers cost and wages would appear out of our budget from mcleish comments.

After record losses last year we cannot really be surprised However disappointing it is.

most of 'em do nowadays. Papers like the Guardian are just as bad and its no wonder when you find the guy now pretending to be a writer on a broadsheet started off on the gossip page at the Daily Star. All of them are cut from the same cloth.

Which papers do you buy, then?

still I wonder if i type the words "ashley", "Cole", "Cheryl", and "Guardian" into google whether anything will come?

Oh look........ There's another Guardian printing gossip masquerading as the high-brow Guardian you read...

Anyway, back to transfers, a midfield of Parker, Makoun and Ireland sounds great, but unless either Man City, Man Utd or Liverpool came in for him, he'd probably want to carrying on playing in Landan and it does sound like financially it's out of out reach anyway.
