Well I think we'll be alright, and anyone who doesn't can suck my balls.

So there.

New manager , clean slate for all -i wont hold my breath on beye but he will get his chance.

Too much reliance on too many players coming good is my main concern with our situation. If we had an already adequate squad sans any Lazarus style career recovery for the likes of Ireland, Warnock, Dunne, Collins and Beye, then it wouldn't be a worry. I am all for trying to rehabilitate them, but to base our season on it with no plan B if it doesn't come off is just crass stupidity.

I would say that if our situation was such that we really were relying in Ireland, Warnock, Dunne, Collins and Beye to ALL come good, and that didn't happen, we'd struggle to not get relegated.

Massive over-reliance on players who've - amongst that lot - shown themselves to be sulky and not bothered (and shit), mental, unreliable  (two of them) and of shit attitude (fighting with staff, anyone?) and lazy means pretty heavy consequences if they dont come good.

But given the money paid for, and still being paid to, these players, and considering the ability they have displayed in the not to distant past (Beye aside), then I think it's irresponsible of the club/manager to not try and get some value from them.  Is it unreasonable to expect the Dunne Collins partnership to go back to what is was in 09/10?  Or Ireland to get his head straight?

All that I would ask is that if the manager decides "Nah - this ain't going to work" then Randy backs his man and releases the necessary funds.

Fair enough if this 'give 'em a chance' theory doesn't work.
The danger is that we might be then paying top dollar in January for replacements, presuming Mr Lerner Sir agrees to cough up.

McLeish aims to be Loan arranger with Carr a target.

Alex McLeish will aim to make the most out of a limited transfer budget by targetting two loan signings, one of them believed to be his ex-Blues right back Stephen Carr.
Carr has been one of Birmingham City's best performers since he joined them in 2008 after coming out of retirement, McLeish sees the veteran as a solution to what he views as a problem in the Villa right back berth.

The move is sure to court even more controversy on top of the Managers appointment which has proved unpopular with the Villa faithful.

"Believed to be". Or more probably more accurately "plucked out of thin air because he used to play for him". That said, the prick can fuck off if he thinks he's welcome to play at Villa. While McLeish was always complimentary about us while he was over *there*, Carr has been the exact opposite.

The wage bill has to pay attention to position. If you've got 6 central midfield players then if you buy more some of them are unlikely to play meaning you're paying them for doing nothing. As I see it we have Petrov, Makoun, Delph, Bannan, Ireland and Hogg. Similarly we have Dunne, Collins, Cuellar and Clarke at centre back.

One of the things you criticised MON for was having players on good money not contributing. As it stands if we buy anyone in either of the positions mentioned we're going to be back to the same issue.
.

Three of those are youth team players who presumably aren't earning much in the grand scale of things.  And if Cuellar goes as looks likely, then we're left with two senior pros in defence in Dunne and Collins, both of whom were utter shite last season.

None of them are youth team players although all of them were once.

As it stands Cuellar is still a Villa player, the situation changes if he is sold.

Dunne and Collins both improved over the second half of the season and were very good the one before. It would be foolish of the new manager to discard them without first giving them an opportunity to impress.

Nedum Onuoha would be a good loan if he's available again from Moneybags City.

McLeish ready to spend

In a startling move, hated Villa boss Alex McLeish is close to securing deals for Birmingham greats Trevor Francis, Paul Tate and Chinese winger Carson Yeung. McLeish has become frustrated in his attempts to sign Charles N'Zogbia and Scott Parker and was told late last night that he would need to sell again to generate any further funds beyond these latest signings. Villa supremo Randolph Lerner is cutting the wage bill at Villa Park in order to get back the millions he has ploughed into the club since he acquired it from Doug Ellis in 2006. It is widely believed that Lerner will look to sell the club as soon as possible with Birmingham executive Peter Pannu expected to form a buying group.
