bad news for me if Gabby goes,

the three most overated players that i've always fell out with people on here about were Downing, NRC and Gabby,

2 down already but if Gabby goes, i'l have nobody else to moan about
Dont worry John, we have been linked with SWP!

I'm sure it won't take you long to find a replacement. ;¬)

Where has all this stupid Gabby leaving talk come from?  I pretty much doubt it! he is going to be at the kit launch along with the FOnz, Bent and Albrighton.  If something was going to happen with Gabby, surely villa wouldnt include him in the kit launch.  I think someone has started a load of porkies on here

One thing I noticed is the media link us to only 4 or 5 players. Parker, N'Zogbia, Given, Damn. Could we be interested in players that the media don't link us to and buy them out of blue.

Based on that assumption we would never release a calendar !! ;)

Doubt it tbh SPA.  The media know we need a goalie, a centre back, a midfielder and a winger to replace Friedel, Cuellar (if he goes to Rangers), NRC and Downing/Young. They also know we haven't got a huge stash of money to spend. Given is, well, given, we've bid for N'Zogbia, everyone knows Parker is looking for a club, and Dann is linked because of McLeish. What really worries me is whether we've got a plan B if these signings don't come off.  God forbid if part of plan B is McGeady or SWP.

Difference is that the calendars are prob made before knowledge of a player leaving, happens.

A football club calendar or having a player part of any pre-season promotional event is a massive risk when featuring a club's better players. I would imagine the 2011/2012 calendars were ready to go with a picture of that traitor Downing. I also noted that Newcastle did some promo work with Kevin Nolan for their new kit before they sold him at about the same time.

Was that just before he left for city or the season before?

What about Drenthe, pretty sure he'd do a good job for us on the left side of midfield.

Hopefully Nzogbia will come in,and I think Krankjier would be a good cheap option, have us covered in wide areas.

Not that it matters a great deal, But I'm sure I spotted something mentioning a fair while back that he was an Arsenal fan at school. Perhaps one of his Edmund Campion school mates can confirm or deny.

I do know for certain there was an interview with Central News the day after he had scored the equaliser against Everton (at VP in 2006/07) where the interviewer said something like 'it must have been great to score in front of the Holte, where you used to stand as a fan,' and he said he never went to matches.

I think that was me that mentioned it, my missus is mates with a teacher there and one of the older sports teachers said he was more interested in playing than watching and if pushed would have chosen  Arsenal as his favourite team.
