Talking to a couple of Blue Noses yesterday and the subject of N'Zogbia came up. They were of the opinion that when AM tried to sign him last season the stumbling block was his wage demands.
I know we pay better than them but could this also scupper the deal to bring him to VP?

It's almost as if both  the dawning of the new financial reality with the need to be fiscally responsible and Dave Whelan already having taken us for mugs once this summer hadn't actually happened.

Yeah, we've got not much money, so what should we do? Give more away than we have to! To Dave Whelan!

without being to flippant about £1M surely if we just pay the extra this will appease the fans a little with what's being going on and will maybe add extra bums on seats and shirt sales than signing someone like McGeady!

I mean Liverpool didnt take to long signing Downing considering he wasnt for sale, they came in with the right testing amount we rightly said no they came back with an agreeable figure.

Nzogbia wants to go, Whelan knows he has to sell him, the figure of £10M seems reasonable in todays overpriced market its half of what Downing cost and yet as far as i can see hes as good if not better than downing!

Whelan wants ten. We've offered nine.

Everton don't have a pot to piss in, Sunderland have said they can't afford him, Pardew says Newcastle gave up ages ago.

Increase our bid now, and we are bidding against ourselves, surely?

who were liverpool bidding against for downing? if you want the player enough you will pay the fee required, and whelan is not a man who will be messed about.

we know the fee and its a fair price, if someone came in and paid the £10m people would be in uproar saying why did we mess about.

he doesnt only have to join a british club and how would we feel should a european club snap him up at £10m?

Yeah, but we know we're the only bidders. Do you think we're stupid?
Again, the fucking bid HASN'T been rejected and some of you are saying we should bid more. For all you know that old scrote has said we'll let him go for £9m, which they accepted last season, and then when our bid came in he's using us a stalking horse for other bidders who dont look like coming.

There is no impasse as we speak, just percieved reluctance and a bid that is still on the table.

and how much do you think Whelan could expect to get in January ? Using Downing as a comparision is ridiculous. They had to pay top wack because we didn't want or need to sell him

Whelan has said he will be sold this window.

N'Zogbia has said he will be staying in England as the premier league is in his blood.

Bid has not been turned down....

I'll bet if Whelan says £10m or no deal, we'll get there to clinch it. Until then, let's leave him considering £9m. This summer is his only chance to cash in on N'Zogbia; he'll be down to £5m come Jan.

£9.5M may clinch it.
