I mean with Nzogbia why fuck about with 9 million instead of 10?

The longer it goes on the less chance we have of signing him.

Welcome to VP Aiden.

How do you work this out?
We're the only club in for him, our bid is therefore the highest and has not been rejected and Wigan won't keep him beyond this window. They need to sell him.

Stop being a drama queen.
I thought they had rejected it ? Or was that just SSN over dramatising things again

No apparently they haven't rejected it. According to Mat Kendrick...

"Whelan has not formally rejected the offer but has verbally told Villa he is reluctant to sell at that price despite N’Zogbia entering the final year of his contract."

I've read this morning that the bid is still on the table, Wigan haven't rejected it, no other club has made a bid, and The Zog is getting frustrated as he'd been told he could go if a £9m offer was made. Think we're doing the right thing. Wigan agreed £9m a year ago with Blues. Why should we up our offer is no-one else has bid yet? If someone else comes in, presumably we can counter that by increasing our offer.

i think £10m is a fair price and hope we sort it today.

maybe he's not keen on coming to Villa, and is waiting to see if anyone else shows interest, so is dragging his feet, remember his manager decided we wernt even worth talking to.
if so do we want a player who's not all that excited about joining the club ?

so hes rejected it by voice and not in writing ? i take it by being reluctant it means hes not going to sell at that price.
whelan is shrewd and he will get his £10m

That theory would coincide with this article

Well apparently according to reports that's not the case. He's quite keen to come, he's just waiting for Wigan and Villa to get the deal done and is frustrated by Wigan's fannying about.

I'd never blame a player to be hesistant or even outright opposed to joining Blose.

If we end up with Aidan fuckin Mcgeady................

If we signed him, we may as well just give up.

The entertainment value on here alone watching all the anti MON brigade implode with apoplexy would be worth it.
Do it Alex, go on do it.

Who said he's rejected it by voice? The only facts we have is that we've bid, its the only bid and it hasnt been rejected. Whelan is shrewd, certainly but he's not the only one. If we go up to £10m I dont mind considering what we got for Downing, but we'll see what happens. I personally feel the bid will be accepted no matter what Whelan is hoping for.

Whelan is dragging it out to try and get a bigger fee, if we hold our nerve I'm sure we'll get him.

Thats a rejection to me , if you are reluctant you dont want to do it.

If you recieve a bid you wont accept, you reject it. It hasnt been. Therefore however reluctant he might be to accept, it must be at least acceptable.

If you ask me  they're just thrashing the details out and the bid will be officially accepted soon enough (and has probably unoffically been accepted). Probably to do with future fees, add ons and all that bollocks.

It's all very well saying
'Oh just pay the extra million'
A million is a lot of money by anybodys standards.

They'll probably reach a compromise of £9.5m and all well and good as the money saved can be used elsewhere.
