Paul Montgomery is a top scout. And has a fantastic reputation. He might have a few players in mind for Mcleish. He was the scout who "found" Drogba - Malouda ......
"Found" Drogba and Malouda?

As in recommended them to Marsille and Lyon when they were playing for Guingamp?

Or, happened to see them in the UEFA Cup Final and Champions League like pretty much everyone else with even a passing interest in football.

I'd sell Downing for £20m, buy N'Zog, Given and Parker with the money. If we have any money over and he wants a striker i would rather we go after Sturridge more than Bentdner or Defoe tbh.

I would rather we buy another wide player though with AYoung and Downing possibly going.

Would love Canales on loan though.

Id been over the moon with Parker,Nzogbia and Given for the price of Downing ..

You ain't kidding!
Although it's "possible" that this could happen, it really does seem almost too crazy to be remotely imaginable!
Definitely the stuff dreams are made of....

It was widely reported that Zigic was bought by the board over the head of McLeish and his management team.

I read somewhere that Zigic had been brought as a "gift".  Strange people.  Perhaps they needed to er, hide some money.

Yes Drogba was hiding behind a bush and Malouda was holed up in a cave!

Well watching players and then recommending them is what a scout does i thought ?

Well I'll claim to have "found" Messi and Xavi then because I saw them on telly last year.

According to Wiki Montgomery recommended Drogba to West Ham. That's all it says. Anyone know more about him?

Chelsea are considering a move for Birmingham's highly-rated head of recruitment Paul Montgomery. Montgomery is one the most respected recruiters in the English game and was seen as a key appointment by manager Alex McLeish in 2008. He is understood to have good contacts in England and abroad, which were utilised by the Blues in their successful summer moves for Alex Hleb from Barcelona and Nikola Zigic from Valencia. Joining forces: Paul Montgomery could join Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea And Montgomery's knowledge of the English market is also top notch, which was demonstrated last year when the Blues plucked successful central-defensive duo Roger Johnson and Scott Dann from the Championship. The Blues are looking for a replacement for sporting director Frank Arnesen, who will quit Stamford Bridge at the end of the season - news exclusively revealed by Sportsmail. Well conntected: Montgomery helped bring Alexander Hleb to Birmingham Former Barcelona technical secretary Txiki Beguiristain is thought to be in the running to replace the Dane, along with Montgomery. And even if Chelsea opted for Beguiristain, the Double winners could still swoop for Montgomery as they look to bolster their scouting resources. A former European scout with West Ham and Rangers, Montgomery was previously offered a position with Barcelona.  Thiago Silva the trump card as AC Milan try to talk David Luiz into snubbing Manchester City and Chelsea for ItalyMission accomplished! Bendtner is 23 good in the air, good on the ball and got attitude. Think he is perfect to play with Bent. 15m and Bendtner ? yes please ......
This is Niklas Bendter of Arsenal you are speaking of?

There must be another one. He struts around the pitch chewing gum trying to look hard, when he is just shit - is that the attitude you speak off?

Bendtner is not alone in thinking he is it. But he has confidence and is good in front of goal. He will have good re-sale value and if there was an opportunity to have him i think he could  do well for us .......

We'll have to disagree, he makes a lot of misses before he puts one away. IMO he is terrible.

Bendtner's domestic goalscoring record is marginally better than Carlton Cole's having played most of that time in a signifcantly better and creative team. Now, he's 23, so he could be better with application and attitude. I just don't see it myself. He's got all the tools to be a very good player, and at 6'5" he's certainly got the size to be a very good target man. Whether he will or not is as much in his head as it is in his ability.

...and look at the team(s) CC has played for compared the Bendtner. Wether he has the capability or not, he hasn't shown it yet, although he acts like he's Messi.....more like Bentley.
