Nope. Usual sense of urgency we've become used to.

Whelan sounds a bit desperate. Could be we're the only club interested and he wants to drum up some competition

With regards to Bendtner, I think he will end up in the Bundesliga.

Whelan's dilemma is he can't afford not to sell N'zogbia and he can't afford not to reinvest in the team. But he also can't afford to cover a summer's spending with no guarantee of getting his money back. A deadline-day deal would be no good and no deal at all would be a disaster. Plus the player will be fussy about where he goes and how much he'll be paid.

Wigan have a long, hard season ahead and that's why N'Zogbia is available for a reasonable fee. Whelan needs to do the deal quickly so Martinez has time and resources to rebuild and prepare.

A plea: when people (eastie and JUAN PABLO I'm particularly looking at you) copy and paste stories or "I've heard" can they post a link to the source, ar or least state what the source was, so we can judge the bollox-rating?

Rocket reducer I usually copy and paste the story never mind the link but I will reveal source.

When I copy and paste I always put link at bottom
Anyway, usually mirror website, sky or kendrick but as we all know most rumours are bollocks although occasionally they get it right.

Out of interest, where have Bendtner stories come from? I think he's a decent player, i've always rated him.

Daily Star On Sunday: Alex McLeish plans to unveil Irish keeper Shay Given later this week - as the first of four major summer arrivals at Aston Villa. In addition to the Man City stopper, 35, Villa are closing in on deals for West Ham playmaker Scott Parker, 30, Wigan's French winger Charles N'Zogbia, 25, and Liverpool outcast Milan Jovanovic, 30. In total that quartet will cost the best part of £25million - and news of a significant spending spree will come as a huge relief to Villa fans.

Certainly the first 3 would make me excited i wouldn't wait to get down to Villa park to watch them not sure about Jovanovic but if he was cheap i guess.

Come on Villa sign those 3 on the 12th of July as its my Birthday best present I could think of! I say about signing a payer on my Birthday every year but it never happens not even close lol, especially when MON was in charge!

Sky quoted wenger as saying almunia and bendtner were not going on tour because they are in discussion with other clubs - no club was mentioned though.

I'm going to guess at Almunia going to Smethwick Tesco, they need a keeper. I'd like Bendtner here, he could be decent alongside Bent and he's still only 23.

When i heard that yesterday i wondered whether it could be us for Bendtner (due to link with McLeish). I actually think that the bloke comes across as an absolute arsehole, and another one that has talent but only plays when he feels like it. We already have a few like that so its a no thanks from me.
