I would be happy with Hutton.

Why do we need another right back?

We dont especially one who is not as good as Luke Young and is a Spurs reserve.................
Luke deserves a run in his own position...he's never let us down...perhaps AM knows that Hutton is the world's greatest left back in disguise!

Man city's Garry cook announces an incredible £400m sponsorship deal with etihad which includes naming the stadium , creating the etihad campus on land next to the ground and shirt sponsorship- biggest sponsorship deal in sporting history dwarfing even American sport and putting city well in the clear when new financial rules take affect.

Anyhow, UEFA are already looking into this, and there is a directive on clubs not to lie about sponsorship amounts. Also, I would not be shocked if the sponsors are not part owned by the owners, and simply finding a way to flounce the rules.

Seems a bit too much of a coincidence doesn't it? Manc massively struggling to meet prospective rules and suddenly find a sponsor to more than cover their debt! Golly! What luck!

Scott Parker has flown out on west hams pre season tour so doesnt seem to be anything happening there at the moment- not seen anything official on Hutton either, the only credible links seem to be shay given , but kendrick thinks nzogbia may be a goer as does nursey.

Fingers crossed eastie!
Would players be able to fly back for talks or reps go out to them? Or am I just being overoptimistic and thick?

Er, didn't Kendrick tweet that N'Zogbia was unlikely if Downing stays?

He doubts nzogbia would happen if downing stays but that's just his gut feeling- also he says bent has the 9 shirt and Ireland number 7 shirt for the new season.

If downing stays there will probably be no Parker or nzogbia as kendrick reckons the only money in the kitty is for a keeper and eck has to generate anymore, I still feel downing will force the issue and will leave personally.

If west ham accept a bid for Parker I'm sure he would fly back but nothing appears imminent at the moment .

Also of course kendrick is often wrong as are many journalists, so until the club officially announce signings it's very much rumour , hearsay and speculation.

There is a clause in FFP re: sponsorship deals representing 'true value'. Hopefully UEFA will see through this. The chairman might as well pay £250m for a pie.

If there was only money for a 'keeper then we'd be looking for a bit more longevity for our £3.5m, or realistically we'd have a bit more to spend.
It also makes a bit of a mockery of the Generals words, when he said "imagine what AMc could do with a board that backs him!"
I think we could afford at least N'Zogbia & Given.

I can't believe for a second they would be short sighted enough not to replace Young, and Eck said himself they need to. I think Nzogbia is a target regardless.

My guess is that we'll try to use Ireland as Young's replacement. And if that doesn't work we will sign someone in late August or in January.

The longer it goes on, the more desperate Wigan will be for the cash and will lower the price.  The clubs interested in N'Zog are playing poker, see who moves first. They are also stacking up the bids to make an auction, regardless that the are saying no bids have been received.  I'm sure lots of clubs have asked to be kept informed. I'd say this is the same for any of the Spurs players, bid later on when the window is running out and they REALLY start to need the money.  A dangerous game though and I'd prefer Villa just to go in and get the deals done.

I think Ireland is going to be given a big chance, I actually think McLeish will manage him well. I posted on another site that I can see him playing just behing Gabby and Bent in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond.
