Think sometimes even joking about these things can work against you as i remember the first joke about MON walking out. And we know how that ended ........

Chaps this is all very interesting but can we get back to talking about transfers..........
Certainly.

From footynow.com

Alex McLeish is poised to make a £5m double swoop for Birmingham City's Stephen Carr and Maik Taylor.
McLeish is eager to install a new number 1 at Villa following the departure of Brad Friedel and the former Rangers chief sees Taylor as the stalwart that can do a professional betwen the sticks throughout next season.

The right back spot is also a potential problem position for McLeish as he does not have complete faith in Luke Young and is still unsure about reserve player Eric Lichaj who spent a few weeks on loan at Leeds United last season.
He sees the experience of Carr, who became his club captain at the Blues, to be the perfect compliment to the Villa defence.

That has to be a wind up

footynow.com must be a wind up site run by a blue nose if this is what has been extracted from there lol!  This will NEVER happen.

If mcleish is substandard god knows what mon must be having spend around £130m at villa and won what?

There is very little to compare between them trophy wise apart from the fact o neill spent far far more in the process.

I agree with you Eastie, fans need to get behind McCleish, but why you bought MON into the argument is beyond me.

No thanks. I'd rather see Bent & Albrighton start. They'd be good to have in the squad, but I'm sure both will want first team football.

ok, ok, who the hell is the Transfer Tavern? Legitimate? Have you looked at the club badges on the site. It's like some 5 year put it together and then sends out rumours. I'm going to set one up tonight and link us to Buffon, Maicon, Mexes, Diarra and Ruben Sosa (even if he is 45).

We are being linked left right and centre but I'd like to see some actual deals being done as it's always nice to have a squad settled for pre season rather than adding players later in pre season- training begins this week and I expected a keeper at least , but hopefully things are happening behind the scenes.

Point taken and accepted clampy.

I wouldn't touch either. I used to like Bentley but his attitude has started to hold him back. Unpopular this may be as a viewpoint but I don't rate Defoe in the slightest.

Defoe is a much better finisher than gabby but I don't believe for one second that we have made a bid for Defoe or bentley.

I don't see why that would be an unpopular viewpoint. He certainly wouldn't be able to play in a front two with Bent and I don't think that anyone on the planet would rather he start ahead of Bent.
