Well said chris smith!

Winning trophies is what we all dream of and I'm sure most blues fans waiting a lifetime would not swap their cup win for 17th place in the league- they will get back up soon enough but how long will we wait for a cup final win?

Let's hope Alex pulls off the silverware here and proves his doubters wrong.

Its amazing how quick some of us are to criticise Eck for what he achieved in Scotland.  I wonder how many of you were at VP the day Doug hired MON and went around bragging about his success (majority in scotland) and what a great manager he is/was?? Yet Eck acheives similar success in the same league as him and he gets cursed for it.

Ok, he got the Sty relegated twice and thats something which will not go away but he has also shown qualities when working at Hibs and Motherwell (both smaller clubs that Rangers and Celtic) and winning a trophy with the scum. Also finishing 9th in the PL with a very average team.

I reiterate, he is no way my first choice manager for villa but he is in charge now so need to show him support.  We also need to look at the bigger bigger of what he has acheived at the different clubs he has managed.

I'm all for getting behind McLeish, we have to, but the massive revisionism is the one thing that bugs me.
Everybody to a man on here would be saying how shit his record is if he wasn't our manager.

The same thing would happen if we did sign Jerome, after the initial complaints he would be bulit up into a potential new Darren Bent.

Finished 2nd and 3rd with Motherwell in SCottish Premier that is not a bad feat by anyone standards

That along with getting the Rags to 9th and winning a cup suggests that he does have something about him and that Greg is either ill informed (again) or on a wind up (again) or both (again).

Whether that something is enough to revitalise us is another thing altogether but we're clearly not talking about a complete duffer as some people pretend.
No he's not a 'complete duffer' he's simply not good enough.
Winning a cup is not much good if you're going to relegate your team at the end of the same season.

It is if you're the Blues. They clearly didn't have the squad for runs in both cups and the league but they're used to being relegated every few years, winning a cup is once in a lifetme.
Never mind the extenuating circumstances, that season was still a failure, survival in the Premiership is far more important than a League cup win.
If he'd achieved both, then maybe it would look more favourable.

Yeah, we prob would say how shit his record is but he is our manager now and all we can do is back him and hope he can all his doubters wrong.

If people were saying his record was shit, they'd be wrong.

If they were saying his record was great, they'd be wrong.

If they were saying his record was mixed, they'd be right.

If they just wanted to concentrate on the negatives, they'd be Greg.

If they wanted to believe that the positives were an indication of what he might be capable of then they'd be a normal football fan hoping for the best.

You are kidding.
I don't know one Dogshitter who would take a league cup win over being in the Premiership.
And as for getting back soon enough, I don't think so, they're more likely to do a Sheffield Wednesday.
They'll lose Foster, Dann and Johnson and have already lost Larsson and Gardner.
They're being replaced with the likes of Marlon King.

They were extremely thin on the ground post League cup win and AM still put out his strongest side against Bolton in the FA Cup and put in a good performance. They were also reduced to 10 men in 2 games in the run in ( Wolves and Newcastle) leading to key suspensions
Win just one of those games they would have stayed up.All if and buts I know but he was running with a very thin squad in the latter half of the season with literally noone capable of scoring goals

Would you trumpet anything positive if he wasn't our Manager Chris?

You wouldn't. If he had nothing to do with us and I asked you your opinion of his record you'd say 'He's shit'

Agree with that Rick.
I'm happy to get behind him, but I refuse to indulge in any sort of revisionism about his achievements.

We would if there were any new transfer links or rumours.  its all gone quiet so i think we are taking advantage of the "out and Out B*ll*cks" part of this topic lol
