Is Al hAbsi really that good?  Is £4m a bargain or is that about right?

Walker was never going to happen and I'd rather we didnt get him on loan if he is available again. Lets find our own Walker from the lower leagues and develop someone ourselves!

If reports are true about Downing I agree we should sell him but ONLY after we've found our replacement first. Otherwise I, like many others will be fuming.

Der Hammer Ive changed my mind about. At first I thought no, we can do better. But thinking about it if he didnt start every game and would accept being a squad player then it would be a good idea. I also dont think he would kick up a fuss if he wasnt starting considering he's so desperate to return to us. Also the fact that he wants to wear the shirt might give him that extra 10%. And you know the fans will take to him as soon as he unleashes... 'The Hammer'! As a free, squad player on average wages, get him in.

Gutted Walker has signed a new deal at spuds. But at least the younger players will of learnt the levels required even at there age to make the grade. Albrighton has already lead the way, so hope to see Delph, Bannan and slowly Gardner show true ambition .......

If Hargreaves was fit, actually fit, I'd have him in our side in a heartbeat. Shame it'll never happen.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT McLEISH!

Birmingham striker Nikola Zigic will depart the club this summer, his agent has confirmed.

The Serbia international saw his campaign cut short by injury last season and could not help the Blues avoid relegation to the Championship.

Makoun is able to play the holding defensive midfield role as well as playing in a more attacking role- I expect him to be our holding midfielder next season protecting the back 4 and making us much harder to break down- an on form Ireland would be fantastic

Kyle Walker has signed a new deal so we can cross him off.

Not that there was any chance we were getting him anyway.
Perhaps Spuds will release Alan Hutton now...

I really hope Ireland can realise some of the potential he showed at citeh. I honestly thought it was good that he came to us. BUT...I fear he's a typical modern footballer - too much too soon, believes his own agent's publicity and is a bit of a sulky git. When the going gets tough he goes into hiding. Would love to see him be given another chance but respond to it with a sense of purpose; not like he did last season when he just seemed to make up the numbers!

That's a massive assumption based on very little. Neither player has shown enough in a Villa shirt to say that with any confidence.

From what little i've seen, i'd say he was too skilful to merely be a holding midfielder, i'd like to see him as the advanced one of a 3 man midfield.

I can dream about him surging forward with Parker and Delph holding the middle.

We've already turned two attacking/box to box midfielders into holding players (NRC and Sidders) without us doing it to Makoun as well.

Hitz would be a useful squad player if a free - cover at leftback and late subb to replace the tiring Petrov. But he should not be seen as the core around which to build a midfield!

From what I've seem Makoun prefers to shadow players and of the two tackles he attempted in a Villa shirt, got sent off for one. Very little point discussing Ireland, we'll just have to wait and see.

AM does have a dilemma though, we have plenty of creative options in midfield but as of yet, no accomplished defensive midfielder.
