Man Shitty closing in on Nasri may free up a certain Yorkshire man.

I think if anybody, it would free up David Silva, who looked great at times last season, but i'm not sure if the Prem is for him.

I'd be surprised if Nasri doesn't become a Man United player to be honest.

Also read that apparently the reason Liverpool didnt go for Conor Wickham is they have to get of some of there high earning, bit part players of their wage bill. Maxi Rodriguez for the right wing anyone?
It's not true. Liverpool do need to shift some deadwood but not so much that they can't pursue targets in the meantime.

I expect Kenny wants to keep Maxi. He really hit form under Dalglish and will play a role next season.

I think you could a lot worse than Jovanovic. He's a good player who signed for the wrong club in the wrong circumstances.

Jovanovic?  Not good enough if we are seriously aiming to strengthen.
Real Madrid thought he was good enough for them.

And they were wrong.

They never got a chance to find out.

I am sure they will be in for him now he is available then.

Man City going for Nasri is another poke at United, nothing more. If he goes there, then I think they are more looking at how to replace Tevez, with Nasri and Silva playing off Dzeko the more likely.

I think downing will go and nzogbia would be a great signing, would have liked larsson on a free as his set piece delivery was excellent last season.

I wish Downing would go now for the 20 million . I dont think they will pay that but im pissed off with him now ..

Downing had a decent season for us last year but I dont rate him all that much really. Not near the class of Ashley Young imo. Tends to take the easy option far too much and is fairly one paced and predictable. He is likely to have a good season trying to make the England squad for Euro 2014 but turning down 20m for him would be insane. The price for English players is crazy at present. Really think Villa need to start looking to Europe for players

I don't think Liverpool will sign Adam, Milner & Downing. If they sign Downing for £20m we should try & get Milner back & sign Adam.

From BBC gossip column:

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish wants Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips to fill the gap left by Ashley Young's move to Manchester United. He would also like to sign goalkeeper Shay Given from City, having lost Brad Friedel to Tottenham this summer.

Good God.

Ashley Young -> SWP? Hopefully it isn't true, but if anything would symbolise our decline, it'd be that.

It's the usual SWP that does the rounds every window.

I'd rather have NZogbia & Bentley.

He's also 29 so can't see Lerner sanctioning a big fee and wages on a player with no sell on value.
