Agree , someone like Norwich or Swansea would be ideal for bannan and give him regular premier experience as I still think he is not going to figure too often in our first team- I have much higher hopes for Gary Gardner to be honest.

If Holloway hadn't been such a penis, Bannan to them for a year would make sense if/when Adam does eventually depart.

A lot of Championship sides are set up to be attritional, physical outfits and might view him as a luxury. There is no point him going somewhere just to sit on the bench. He can do that at our place. But Blackpool's style of play would suit him and if he has a run of games and looks like one of the better players in that division it could be decent for his long term development.

Barry Bannan is 22 in December and has played for the full Scottish side

Fuck me are we going to keep loaning him out til he's 23 or 24???

Whenever I watch Scotland, Bannan is better than Adam.

I also think Given is injury prone, I'd rather go for a young keeper like Foster

I don't see Bannan making an impact this season unfortunately. Too lightweight and passive, a team like ours really can't afford to play a luxury player like him in midfield.

Unless we go all out and play him as a second striker like Man City play Silva with 3 more defensive minded players behind him.

Everytime Ive seen him play, he always looks for the ball, very good at retaining it and has a great eye for a pass. Something he's demonstrated a number of times for club and country last season.

Bannan due to his size needs to play in a midfield 3, i think he could slot in behind bent

Bannan needs to deliver consistently and then he will become a regular , too many times he has gone missing and the game has passed him by, he needs to assert himself but I have my doubts as to whether he will make it at this level- another Steven Davis maybe who may make it in Scotland?

His failure to break into a struggling Leeds side suggests he's not ready yet and he certainly doesn't warrant a regular place in our team- I hope he makes though as there's something in his game.

I hate it when a footballer like Bannan pops up - quick feet, quicker brain, great eye for a pass, capable of opening up defences, confident and talented enough to score from 25 yards - and he's dismissed as a 'luxury' player.

He's also a little firecracker and is willing to put himself about. He can make it at this level - we just need to give him the chance.

Bloody hell Eastie, give him a chance, you find games often pass by  players of his age, and the only way he's going to assert himself is if he's given playing time on the pitch. Anyone who was at Fulham last season who saw that crossfield pass he made for our goal will tell you we've possibly got a heck of a player there, who has'nt been used enough.

Bannen is 22 soon, so no longer a 'kid', look at the ages of players like Fabregas who have been around for years yet are only just older than Bannen.
I think he can be a real player, with a great engine, an eye for a pass (for which you need players to be able to read, or it looks bad) and a competitive nature!
Lets give the guy a chance to prove it over a run of games, and players like Albrighton will thrive on his vision.

Agreed.

I think he's the most talented player I think I've seen come through our ranks, and also he's exactly the type of player suited to how Barcelona and Spain are shifting the way the game needs to be played.

He needs game time, and we need to hold on to him. Maybe having a fellow Scot in charge will help his cause.

Dont use Fabregas as an example. He is exceptional in that he was ready as young as he was. Its certainly not typical.

It is Scotland though, so it's all relative.

Bannan is about half an inch taller than Messi, ffs!

Agreed, it's so infuriating. Players like this aren't luxury, they're essential. Players who run around, graft but have no technical ability - now that's a luxury you can't afford, especially in midfield.
