SSN website linking us to Wes Brown.  God help us.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11667_6995517,00.html

He's a good player. Your not at Man Utd for all those years if you are not a good player. I'd be pleased if we signed him.

Never really rated him myself but thats just my opinion obviously.  I'd prefer to stay away from the likes of him and O'shea and the players which lead people to suggest that Man Utd have become a team full of average players.  Haven't seen the stats but Brown doesn't get too many games anymore does he?

edit: oh yes, the article says 15 apps.

Wouldn't mind Brown. Always seemed like a good pro, and i would be confident he would put much better performances in than most of our defenders did last season.

Don't think we'll get Brown, Sunderland wanted him but he was on SSN saying he wants to stay in the North West.

Good central defender Brown, but too old, and probably on too much wages.I would prefer Woodgate on a pay as you play if we are going down that route. Now he was a good player.

Hutton wouldn't be bad neither would Brown but there are better out there.

Not surprised.  He'd be in debt before he hung up his boots if he accepted!

I'm slightly worried that we'll be shopping bargain basement, or in the 30 plus category. In part because of money, in part because we're not an attractive proposition. Also, we don't have a manager with a big standing in the game. In fact being linked with the likes of Wes Brown, though not a bad player, kind of has a whiff of the O Leary days about it.

If we really want to get back to the top 6 area, we've got to be far more ambitious. I hope we are. The fact we signed Bent gives us hope, even though I think Randy probably weighed up the cost against the prospect of relegation, as well as the combined Milner and Young fees. He'd have known bac in Jan, as we all did, that Young was pretty much a cert to leave.

Wes Brown, Danny Simpson ? We are supposed to be ambitious. We have better players than them already. We should be looking at izaguirre, Robinson/Foster etc getting worried already of the level of intent Mcleish has for this season .....

Hutton's good going fwds but not great defensively. Could do worse. Did cost £9m though, not sure what we'd get him for. Would rather walker but that may not be possible.

Foster, Hutton, dann and someone like Figueroa would cost about £30m though. That'd be practically all of the young and downing money without replacing either. I reckon we may need to cut our cloth and not sure we could afford big money keeper and centre back signings.

Exactly I just cant see Lerner sanctioning a butt load of cash to replace the defence again. Even if we sell Warnock, Beye & Dunne we'd still have Baker, Clark, Cuellar Collins and Young which could make a decent defense. Add McGregor and Hutton into the mix and it could be turned into a solid outfit. More money to spend elsewhere.

Wes Brown, FFS.

Let him go to Bolton when they need a replacement for Cahill.

Yep, £9m for Charlie Adam would be fine in the current market. I'd be well pleased with that.

Not a personal dig at you but why is everyone asking for Adam? 1 good season in the EPL yes. Good player yes. But what does signing Adam mean to the likes of Bannan and Delph? Both could turn out to be just as good, if not better. All 3 play in same position and left footed. Bringing him in means we might let 1 of those players leave and have another Gary Cahil situation. Why not say to the likes of Bannan and Delph, "look guys this is your year to impress me, show what your capable of and make the starting spot yours". Both have shown glimpses they CAN cut it. Put them next to Makoun and an experienced combatitive midfielder and we could be onto a winner.

Goalkeepers. I don't think we should go for Foster. He is  not  the sort of GK we need to replace Brad. He is another Carson. We need Shay Given.

Walkers performances for the U21s may have put paid to any little chance we had of getting him permanently.

I agree.

No they need to sell players.  Spurs have 42 players in the  so cavilled frost team squad.

Thats a sign of a fat (wages wise) bastard who wants it easy for the next 5 years.
